By Herman Santa

Herman Santa became the 15th President of the “Spanish American Club, Inc.,” elected at the Annual Assembly on Sunday, February 4, 2007.

“I feel proud of the trust that the partners have shown me in this new challenge. I will be fully committed to the well-being of the club and I assure you that my projects will be aimed at improving today’s SACI for tomorrow. The Corporation was founded by nine Hispanics from different countries (4 Puerto Ricans, 3 Cubans, 1 Dominican, and 1 Venezuelan) 15 years ago with the aim of preserving the Hispanic heritage on the Treasure Coast.” The Corporation was created with the following purposes:

Goals: Promote friendship and solidarity among members and other institutions through social, cultural, civic, and sports activities. Encourage the knowledge of the language, geography, history, art, culture, and folklore of Hispanic countries. Help and assist members and the Hispanic community according to the Association’s skills.

The club has stood out for its selfless contribution to the Hispanic community of Martin and St. Lucie counties by offering scholarships to Hispanic students, donating certificates to low-income families on Thanksgiving Day, and donating toys on Christmas Day to children from economically disadvantaged families, among other things.
