Tea Party fundraiser a big success

The ladies of the Spanish American Club, Inc. held a Tea Party/Fashion Show Fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 29 at St. Andrew Christian Academy in Port St. Lucie.  More than 50 members and guests attended the event. Nancy Rozon was committee chair with Mary Figliola, Kathy Rivera, Karen Diamond and Nora Candelario assisting and Lucy Santa and Ida Gallant as hostesses.

There was a delicious lunch with an assortment of teas, finger foods and desserts followed by a fashion show presented by Hecho a Mano from the Treasure Coast Mall. Attendees enjoyed previewing the latest fashions presented by Mary Chang, manager. Models were provided by the Club and the Academy. Music was provided by Justin Owle, cellist, who is a senior at Vero Beach High School.  The Club then held a silent auction with many items available provided by the generosity of local business sponsors and personal donations. Winners of the door prizes were Delia Diaz, Ida Gallant, Ernesta Monroe and Patricia Santos.

A big thank you goes to the tea party/fashion show committee who worked very hard to make this event a big success and to the generosity of the attendees and sponsors who supported the event.  Among the sponsors were: Rave, Kilwin’s, Victoria Rose Boutique, O’Sole Mio, EI Cubanito, Umberto’s, Caramba, Aphrodite, Bloomingdeal’s, Arraz Fashions, Macy’s, Beall’s, Joseph Lynn, Albert g. Accessories, Lowe’s, Tropical Smoothie in SLW, and Laura Mercado.  Our next events have been scheduled for Saturday, November 19 to celebrate our Annual Thanksgiving Party at Tapas Latin Fusion and Saturday, December 17 to celebrate our Annual Christmas Party and toys collection for needy children.

Fashion Show raises money for the club

PORT ST. LUCIE —On Oct. 29, the Spanish American Club hosted a tea party and fashion show at St. Andrew’s Christian Academy in Port St. Lucie.  More than 50 members and guests attended the event.  Nancy Rozon was committee chair with Mary Figliola, Kathy Rivera, Karen Diamond and Nora Candelario assisting and Lucy Santa and Ida Gallant as hostesses.

Among the guests were Mindy Rozon, Nikole Rozon, Luz Beatriz Londoño, Martica Londoño, Carly Wehrly, Patricia Vega, Rosie Perez, Olga Wilson, Norma Canales, Clara Torres, Karen Schlitt, Marilyn Planny, Jean Scadden, Nancy McGuinness, Linda Zailski, Mary McCaffrey, May Santa-Brown, Patricia Santos, Gloria Fisher, Isa Bryson, Mildred Pellot, Carol Grogan, Betty Jo Grogan, Chelsie Campana, Kay Feazel and Sandy Remington.

Many members of the Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) and their guests enjoyed a good time at the Jensen Beach Women’s Club.  The elegant celebration began promptly at 7:00 P.M. with a cocktail.  Dinner was served after a speech by the president of the club, Dr. Enrique Ospina, who reminded guests of the club’s upcoming activities.  Good latin music by Johnny’s Music had all the guests dancing until the wee hours of the morning.

SACI celebrates Mother’s Day

El “Spanish American Club, Inc.” celebró el dia de las Madres el sábado 13 de mayo en los salones del Jensen Beach Women’s Club.

El baile estuvo amenizado por Johnny Saltos “Johnny’s Music.  Johnny Saltos nos puso a bailar desde muy temprano con sus ritmos modernos.  Las luces sicodélicas, humo y su forma de animar al público nos sentimos si estuvieramos en una discoteca.  Como de costumbre hicimos la rueda, el Puente y el calipso.

Se aprovechó la ocasión para celebrar los cumpleaños en el mes de mayo de los socias Isa Bryson, Reneé Arnao y Odette Gayoso.  Al final Johnny dedicó canciones a las madres.  Quiero darle las gracias a todas las personas que colaboraron y nos apoyaron en eta actividad, especialmente al organizador, César Bohórquez, a la Junta Directiva y a los socios del club que contribuyeron.

Spanish American Club celebrates Halloween

On Saturday, Oct. 15 the members of the Spanish American Club, Inc. held their Annual Halloween Party.  The costumed crowd enjoyed an evening of fund, door prizes, drinks and food to set mood with live entertainment throughout the night.  This  annual event raised funds for the club and the same time gave the members and their guests a chance to mingle, dance and enjoy Halloween night.

Among the guests were Nereida Pellot, Ben and Mildred Pellot, Lisa Garcia, Ivan Muñoz and Vivi Bercey.  Right after the dinner and the raffles, the members celebrated Dick Diamond birthday.  Then they danced with the rhythm of Max Duhalde.  The Highlight of the night was Ray Cruz who sang a few tango songs for the guests.  Door prize winners were: Carlos López and Billie Betancourt.  The best costume contest winners were Eddie Heltzer and Linda Manzanares. Gladys Piñeiro won the hat dance contest and Linda Manzanares won the 50/50 raffle.

Many thanks to the board of directors who donated the door prizes and those who helped with the decoration, the set ups and planned the event. The board extends its thanks to generous members and guests who bought tickets for the 50/50 raffle.  Next event has been scheduled for October 29th to celebrate a Fashion Show/Tea Cup.El Spanish American Club, Inc. celebra “Halloween Party”

Gran celebración de Máscaras

Los socios del“Spanish American Club, Inc.” celebraron la tradicional fiesta de “Halloween” el sábado 25 de octubre en un clubhouse en la ciudad de Ft. Pierce.  Los socios e invitados gozaron de una noche de alegría, premios de entrada, tragos, y cena para empezar la noche de baile y máscaras.  El baile anual recaudó dinero para los fondos del club y a la misma vez los socios e invitados disfrutaron con sus amistades de una noche de disfraces y deversión.  La próxima actividad será un almuerzo “Tea Cup/Fashion” el sábado 29 de octubre en “St. Andrew Christian Academy en Port St. Lucie.

Festival de la Herencia Hispana: Food, Shows and Friends

On Saturday, October 8, 2011, members of the Spanish American Club, Inc. dined and danced at the “Festival de la Herencia Hispana” at the Centro Parroquial Holy Family Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie.

After the dinner the members enjoyed the Mariachi “Estrellas de México”and and danced with the music of D.J. Adán Pozos. The food was delicious, the show and the music was great.
