The Spanish American Club, Inc. helps others at Christmas

By Herman Santa

The Thanksgiving party of the Spanish American Club was the beginning of the holiday season, the time to donate food baskets and to collect toys for the underprivileged families in need in the area.

The toys that were collected will be donated in Stuart and Indiantown through Helping People Succeed, Healthy Families. The rest of the toys will be donated to St. Andrew Christian School in Port St. Lucie.  The donation of food baskets during the week of Thanksgiving and the collection of toys for Christmas is a club tradition that began 23 years ago and helps to light up the lives of underprivileged families in need in Martin and St. Lucie counties.

The Spanish American Club, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded in 1992, whose main goals are to promote friendship and solidarity among its members and other institutions, through social, cultural and civic activities and to promote the knowledge of the Spanish-speaking countries’ geography, history, art, culture and folklore.  A big thank to our board, to the members and their guests who donated the Christmas toys for the children.  Next event of the club is a holiday dance on Saturday, Dec. 26. Reservations are required.  For more information, please contact the president of the club, Carlos Bonet, at c.bonet@aol.com.
