The Spanish American Club, Inc. celebrated its 27th Anniversary

On Saturday, September 28 The Spanish American Club, Inc. celebrated its 27th Anniversary at the Disabled American Veterans Club in Port St. Lucie. Attendees enjoyed a night full of fun, an exquisite buffet, raffles, door prizes, birthday celebration and dancing throughout the evening.
Master of ceremonies and president of the club, Carlos Bonet, welcomed everyone to the event and thanked them for their continued support. Carlos made a short speech honoring past directors of the club that where present, among them, Dr, Enrique Ospina, Maite Peterson, Ray Guadalupe, Lucy Santa, Herman Santa, Fe Valderuten, Carlos Mejía, Lionel Román, Melissa Bonet-Sanchez and Tony Colón. If I missed any one, please forgive me.
Just before the dinner, as always, a minute of silence was observed for those members that have passed away. During a break, the board conducted the raffles for the door prizes and 50/50 and celebrated the member’s birthdays of the month of September, while entertainer D.J. José Ramírez played a Happy Birthday song for them, among them were present: José Garcia, Ed Parra, María Garcia, Iris Sevilla, Magno Morales and Rafael Gabay. Door prize raffle winners were: Evelyn Carrillo, Iris Sevilla, Annie Borras, Evie Cardona and Francis Mata. The 50/50 winners were: Al Peña, Patricia Garcia and Evie Cardona.
The 27th Anniversary Dinner Dance marked another milestone of the existence of our club. A big thanks to Carlos Bonet and his board of directors–Vivian Megaro, Public Relations Director; Al Feliciano, Vice President; Evelyn Carrillo, Secretary; Josephine Guadalupe, Treasurer; Nancy Rozon, (Vocal) Director; and Mary Figliola, Substitute Director who dedicate their talent, knowledge and time every month to help and promote fellowship among the Hispanic groups on the Treasure Coast
A special thank you to all the members and their guests who attended and bought tickets for the raffles. Proceeds will benefit the club’s scholarship program.
Founded in 1992, The Spanish American Club, Inc. is the oldest charitable, social, civic, cultural and sport organization in the Treasure Coast. With nearly 150 active members from various Latin American countries including Spain and United States, the club fosters positive relations between Americans and other Spanish speaking people from Martin and St. Lucie counties.
The directors organize a monthly dance the last Saturday of each month. While some members bowl every Monday at 6:00 P.M. at the Saint Lucie Lanes others play golf every Friday at the Saints Golf Course at 9:00 A.M.
Future events of the club this year: Friday, October 25 “Scholarship Golf Tournament; Saturday, October 26 “Halloween Party”; Saturday, November 9th thru 11th ” Bahamas Cruise”; Saturday, November 30 “Thanksgiving Party”; Saturday, December 8th “Bowling Christmas Dinner/Dance”; and Saturday, December 28 “Christmas Dinner/Dance”.

Los socios del El Spanish American Club, Inc. celebraron 27 años de fundación el sábado 28 de septiembre en el Disabled American Veterans Club en la ciudad de Port St. Lucie. Los socios e invitados se divertieron toda la noche con un delicioso bufét, rifas, premios y baile. El evento lo amenizó el D.J. José Ramírez.
Antes de la cena, el presidente del club Carlos Bonet y maestro de ceremonias le dió la bienvenida a todos los concurrentes y les agradeció por el apoyo que le han brindado en todos los eventos del club. Después Carlos presentó a los directores que han participado en la Junta de Directores desde su fundación en el 1992. Entre ellos estaban presente Dr, Enrique Ospina, Maite Peterson, Ray Guadalupe, Lucy Santa, Herman Santa, Fe Valderuten, Carlos Mejía, Lionel Román, Melissa Bonet-Sanchez y Tony Colón. Perdonen si se me olvidó alquien.
Antes de la cena, como de costumbre se hizo un minuto de silencio para los socios que han fallecido. En un receso los directores del club hicieron las rifas de los premios, del 50/50. Despues el D.J le tocó una canción de cumpleaños los socios que estaban celebrando sus cumpleanos en el mes de septiembre. Entre ellos se estaban José Garcia, Ed Parra, María Garcia, Iris Sevilla, Magno Morales and Rafael Gabay. Los ganadores de los premios fueron: Evelyn Carrillo, Iris Sevilla, Annie Borras, Evie Cardona y Francis Mata. Los de los 50/50 fueron: Al Peña, Patricia Garcia y Evie Cardona.
Mil gracias a Carlos Bonet y su Junta de Directores compueta por Vivian Megaro, Relaciones Públicas; Al Feliciano, Vice Presidente; Evelyn Carrillo, Secretaria; Josephine Guadalupe, Tesorera; Nancy Rozon, (Vocal) y Mary Figliola, Substituta quienes planearon el evento, Ellos aportan su talento, conocimiento y tiempo cada mes para promover y ayudar a la comunidad hispana en la Costa del Tesro.
El calendario de actividades del club para el resto del año son las siquientes: “Scholarship Golf Tournament”, vierne 25 de octubre; “Baile de las Brujas”, sábado 28 de octubre; “Bahama Cruise”, sábado del 9 al 11 de noviembre; “Baile de Acción de Gracias”, sábado 30 de noviembre; “Bowling Dinner Dance”, sábado 8 de diciembre y “Christmas Dinner Dance”, sábado 28 de diciembre. “Spring Break Cruise” (The Norwegian Pearl) 7 Night Western Caribbean Cruise, March 15-22, 2020

The event was held at Jensen Beach Park on Hutchinson Island on Saturday, Junio 20, 1999. Perfect weather for a picnic kept guests enjoying latin food, music and games. En el picnic de los socios, se premió a la Señorita Ella Roselynn Flores, ganadora de la beca. La entrega de la beca estuvo a cargo de la presidenta del club Sra. Yolanda Sanchez quien realirmó el compromiso del Spanish American Club, Inc.” y de los socios en apoyar y patrocinar actividades como esta que ayudan a nuestros estudiantes a sobresalir en sus estudios académicos y a convertirse en buenos ciudadanos del mañana.

Dr. Enrique Ospina, President of the Spanish American Club, Inc. “S.A.C.l.”, Herman Santa, director of the Scholarship Program, William Preciado and Isa Bryson, members of the S.A.C.l. Scholarship Committee met Saturday May 20th to select to the winners of the 2006 scholarship. Jessica Benitez, Mexican of Port St Lucie and Miriam Hernandez, Guatemalan of 1ndiantown were selected among a pool of six Hispanic candidates as the winners of the-SACI Scholarship this year.

The Spanish American Club, Inc. goes Hawaiian in Port St. Lucie

The Annual Luau party hosted by The Spanish American Club, Inc. was celebrated on Saturday August 31st. Club members took time from the stress of the upcoming hurricane Dorian and disaster preparations to dance and celebrate friendship. It was an evening of raffles, door prizes, music, leis and of course, dancing. DJ José Ramírez provided the entertainment. Especially playing a song to defy Hurricane Dorian with the lyrics ” todo malo echa palla” (all bad things go away).
Master of ceremonies and president of the club, Carlos Bonet, welcomed everyone to the party and gave an update of the status of the club and thanked every one of them for their continued support. Following the president’s update, the board conducted the raffles and celebrated the birthdays of the month of September, while entertainer D.J. José Ramírez played a Happy Birthday song for them. Among the present were: Angel Pellot, Maritza Rivera and Lou Rosa.
Door prize raffle winners were: Alden Chacon, Tom Burger, Dolly Batista, Frank Megaro, Karen Diamond and Sonia Hernandez. The 50/50 winners were: Evie Cardona, Xiomara Guanill and Mary Figliola. A big thank you to our board members who coordinated the event. A special thank you to all the members and their guests who attended and bought tickets for the raffles. Proceeds will benefit the club’s scholarship program.
Plans are currently underway for our “Annual Anniversary Party” which will take place at the Disabled American Veterans Hall on September 28, 2019. The event will be catered. Reservations are required. For more information, please contact the president of the club, Carlos Bonet at c.bonet@aol.com

Los socios e invitados del Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI), se deleitaron el sábado 31 de agosto con una gran fiesta al estilo Hawaiiano en el Disabled American Veterans hall in Port St. Lucie. La fiesta la amenizó el D.J. José Ramírez. Fue una noche de rifas, premios, musica, leis y desde luego baile. El baile fue amenizado por el DJ José Ramírez. El presidente del club y maestro de ceremonias Carlos Bonet le dió la bienvenida a todos, nos puso al dia con los futuros planes del club y les agradeció a todos por el apoyo que le han brindado.
En un receso se hicieron las rifas de los premios, del “50/50” y se celebraron los cumpleaños del mes de agosto entre ellos presente estaban Angel Pellot, Maritza Rivera y Lou Rosa. Los ganadores de los premios fueron: Alden Chacón, Tom Burger, Dolly Batista, Frank Megaro, Karen Diamond y Sonia Hernández. Los del 50/50 fueron Evie Cardona, Xiomara Guanill y Mary Figliola. Gracias a los directores que coordinaron el evento. Muchisimas gracias a los socios que donaron los regalos para los concurrentes y por comprar boletos para las rifas. Las ganancias irán a los fondos de la beca del club.
La próxima actividad del club está Planeada para sábado 28 de septoiembre en el mismo local para celebrar el aniversario del club. Reservación es requerida.
