The Spanish American club, Inc. awarded $500 scholarship to Elba Valdez.  Elba was born in Stuart of Mexican descendant and is attending Martin County High School with a 3.3 GPA.   Elba lives with her parents Jesus and Bertha Valdéz in Stuart.  She also plans to study Physical Therapy at Indian River State College.   This year Scholarship Committee members are as follows: Fund Raiser; Lydi Pallares, Director, Herman Santa, Nancy Rozon and Isa Bryson.  The Board of Directors are: Jimmy Rivera; President, Nancy Rozon; Vice President, Al Feliciano; Secretary; Ron Bryson; Treasurer and Mary Figliola; Director.

Applicants must the following eligibility for consideration.  Students must be a senior from Martin or St. Lucie County public High School and resident of either county.  Students must maintain a 3.0 grade point average (GPA), financial need and demonstrate a pattern of community service.  Students from low income families are encouraged to participate. Applicants must submit an essay written in Spanish on why they feel they should be considered. Letters of recommendation are accepted.

Marisol Gómez awarded $500 scholarship

Ft. Pierce student Marisol Gómez recently was awarded $500 scholarship.  She was born in Mexico and lives in Ft. Pierce with her parents Armando Gómez and Estela Camargo.  Ten years ago, when she came to the United States she didn’t speak any English and now she can master not only the English language but also the Spanish.  She is the first one of seven children that will graduate from High School.  Marisol is attending Fort Pierce Central High School with a 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) and she is pursuing a career in Business Management at the University of Johnson and Wales.

This year Scholarship Committee members are as follows: Fund Raiser; Lydi Pallares, Director, Herman Santa, Nancy Rozon and Isa Bryson.  The Board of Directors are: Jimmy Rivera; President, Nancy Rozon; Vice President, Al Feliciano; Secretary; Ron Bryson; Treasurer and Mary Figliola; Director.

Donation-Support Our Troops 2010

SACI Donates to our troops

The Spanish American Club, Inc. started to collect non perishable articles to help our troop.  Kathy and Mary Figliola from the committee Support our Troops” started to collect the items at the Mardi Gras Party and they will be collecting more items at the April 24th event.  They are collecting non perishable items, such as canned goods, toiletry items, soap, lip balm, hand sanitizes, creams, socks, wet wipes, etc.   These items will help our troops so please donate as they are counting on us.  Thank you for your donations.

SACI gathered in Wellington

This time was the Malqui family who hosted the traditional Get Together the the Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) has every month for their members and their guests.  This time, the membes drove down to Wellington on Saturday, May 27 where they were received by the friendly Peruviean family and enjoyed moments of happiness and amusement at the contagious rhythm of a dominican group who interpreted the most popular tropical tunes.  Of course that event was accompanied by delicious ethnic food, deserts and beverages for all the enjoy.

La familia Malqui fue esta vez la anfritiona del tradicional “Get Together” que el “Spanish American Club, Inc.” (SACI) realiza para sus socios una vez por mes.  En esta ocasión los socios se trasladaron hasta el pueblo de Wellington el sábado 27 de mayo donde fueron recibidos en casa de la amigable familia de origen peruano y disfrutaron momentos de elegría y especialmente al contagioso ritmo de un grupo Dominicano que inerpretó los temas más conicidos de la música tropical.  Por supuesto que la diversión estuvo acompañada de sabrosa comida típica, postres y bebidas para todos los gustos.

Oustanding annual SACI’s boat trip

A group of members of the Spanish American Club, Inc. shared a marvelous cruise last Saturday, June 25th, on board of the Sterling Cruise at Cocoa Beach, one of the most famous port of Cape Canaveral.  Members and guests traveled on a bus (Motor coach) reserved by the Board of Direct0rs for the members from the Treasure Coast Mall in Jensen Beach to Port Canaveral.  The cruise was filled with activities that were enjoyed by the members from the moment they got on board at 1o A.M.

During the cruise, members enjoyed lunch in a private room reserved only for the club.  Members and guests had the chance to enjoy Caribbean music (Island Music), shows and many other amenities, including free beverages while they were playing at the casino.  The trip concluded when they came back to the parking lot after 5 P.M.  Thanks to the Board of Directors and the Trip Committee for putting together this annual activity.

El Crucero  anual del SACI fue de primera

Un grupo de socios del “Spanish American Club, Inc.” (SACI) compartieron un maravilloso crucero el domingo 25 de junio en el casino “Starling Cruise” en Cocoa Beach, uno de los famosos puertos de Cabo Cañaveral.  Los socios e invitados viajaron en bus (Motor coach) desde el “Treasure Coast Mall” en Jensen Beach reservado para la ocasión por la Junta Directiva del club hasta el puerto cañaveral.  El crucero estuvo repleto de actividades que todos gozaron desde que abordaron el barco a las 10 de la mañana.

Durante el crucero los socios saborearon el almuerzo en un solón reservado para el club.  Los socios e invitados tuvieron la oportunidad de disfrutar de la música caribeña (Island Music), espectáculos y de otras actividades del barco incluyendo tragos gratis mientras jugaban en el casino.   El viaje concluyó regresando al estacionamiento después de las 5 de la tarde.  Gracias a la Junta Directiva y al comité de giras por planear esta actividad que se hace todos los años.

Celebran primer fiestón del año los socios de club

La Asociación “Spanish American Club, Inc.” (SACI) botó la puerta por la ventana.  Los socios del club en invitados, festejaron de lo lindo el sábado 7 de enero en el primer baile del año de la Organización.

El encuentro sirvió de escenario para unir a los socios, quienes compartieron la alegría de las “Octavitas” y celebraron juntos el fruto de un trabajo aduo y un equipo a lo largo del año.

La actividad se llevó a cabo en el “Disabled American Club” (DAV) en Port St. Lucie.  El salón se vistió de celebración para recibir a los socios dispuestos a bailar, disfrutar de una deliciosa cena y elegir a nuna nueva directiva para el año 2006.

La fiesta comenzó con la Asamblea General Anual y siguió con la cena.  A las 8 de la noche, Raul Del Rosario (Show time DJ’s) empezó a tocar música moderna de salsa, cumbia, merengue y animó a todos con su repertorio de música desde “Line Dance” como “Macarena”, “Electric Slide”, “Chacha Slide” hasta “Karaoke”.  En un receso se hizo la rifa del “Fifity Fifty” y luego la voz romantica del cantante ecuatoriano Xavier Alejando, tornó la noche en una bohemia de recuerdos.
