Congratulations Scholarship Recipients 2020

The Spanish American Scholarship Committee would like to introduce our 2020 scholarship recipients. The club was able to award $3,500.00 to deserving Latino students. As Covid 19 has limited our social distancing the club was not able to present our scholars in person to our members. Scholarships are available because of your charitable donations either directly or through our many social activities. These students are extremely thankful to our members and have expressed so in their thank-you notes.

Logan Putnam

Awarded $1,000. Attending University of Central Florida.  Major: Aerospace Engineering.

Daniela Granados

Awarded $500.  Attending Seminole State College.  Major: Neuroscience.

Alicia Solis

Awarded $500.  Attending University of Florida.  Major: Biology/Physician Assistance.

Itzel Mendoza

Awarded $500.  Attending University of Central Florida.  Major: Nursing.

Natalie Becerra

The Spanish American Club, Inc. otorga 6 becas a estudiantes hispanos

El Comité de Becas y La Junta de Directores del Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) seleccionó a seis estudiantes hispanos de los Condados de Martín y St. Lucie.  Las becas honran a los estudiantes hispanos que se distinguen por sus talentos académicos en el último año en las Escuelas Superiores de los Condados de Martín y St. Lucie.

Por veinteseis años consecutivos El Spanish American Club, Inc. “SACI” por sus siglas en Inglés otorgó becas a seis estudiantes hispanos que continuarán sus estudios en cualquier colegio o universidad en los Estados Unidos.  Este año el Comité de Becas está compuesto por Nancy Rozon, Directora, Pam Peña, Elizabeth Mejia y Herman Santa.   La Junta Directiva esta compuesta por Carlos Bonet, Presidente; Al Feliciano, Vice Presidente; Evelyn Carrillo, Secretaria; Josephine Guadalupe, Tesorera; Vivian Megaro, Relaciones Públicas: Nancy Rozon, Vocal; y Mary Figliola Substituta.

El Club es una corporación con fines no lucrativos fundada en el 1992 para conservar y promover la cultura hispana en la Costa del Tesoro.  El objetivo principal es promover el intercambio cultural, de idioma, geografía, costumbres, historia, arte y folklore de los paises de habla hispana.  Desde el 1994, el club ha otorgado becas a más de 60 estudiantes con un total de más de $37,000.  Para más información con respecto a nuestro club visite:http://www.thespanishamericanclubinc.org.

Anniversary 2020

The Spanish American Club, Inc. members celebrate 28th Anniversary of the club

Members and guests of The Spanish American Club host their 28th anniversary of the club on June 27, 2020 at the Elks Lodge located at 2290 SE Lennard Road, PSL 34952.

SACI Board of Directors along with Management of the Elks Lodge made sure that all the safety protocol pertinent to COVID-19 (Corona Virus) were implemented during each event.  These protocols were supplied via email to all club members on May 15, 2020 by our President Mr. Carlos Bonet. We are happy to inform everyone that the events were a great success.  We celebrated with a delightful dinner and great music by DJ Carlos Bonet, President.    I personally want to thank Carlos for the great job he did as the DJ. SACI would also like to thank the Elks Lodge staff for their commendable services.

Father’s 2020

The Spanish American Club, Inc. members celebrate Father’s Day Dinner Dance

Members and guests of The Spanish American Club host their annual Father’s Day Dance on June 27, 2020 at the Elks Lodge located at 2290 SE Lennard Road, PSL 34952.

SACI Board of Directors along with Management of the Elks Lodge made sure that all the safety protocol pertinent to COVID-19 (Corona Virus) were implemented during each event.  These protocols were supplied via email to all club members on May 15, 2020 by our President Mr. Carlos Bonet. We are happy to inform everyone that the events were a great success.  We celebrated honoring all fathers with a delightful dinner and great music by DJ Carlos Bonet, President.    I personally want to thank Carlos for the great job he did as the DJ. Scholarship 2020 (Granados)

The Spanish American Club, Inc. awards scholarship

Daniela Granados

The Spanish American Club, Inc. is proud to recognize one outstanding student selected to receive one of the six club’s 2020 scholarship awards. The recipient is Daniela Granados of Ft. Pierce.

Daniela was born in Quetarato, Huimilpan, Mexico.  Her parents are Francisco Granados and Elvira Frias also were born in Queretaro, Huimilpan Mexico.  Daniela attended Ft. Peirce Central High School, Florida and will be attending Stanford University where she will be pursuing a degree in Neuroscience in hopes of becoming a neurosurgeon.

This year scholarship committee Chair by Nancy Rozon and Co-chair by Pamela Peña  Elizabeth Mejía and Herman Santa along with the board of directors Carlos Bonet, President; Al Feliciano, Vice President; Evelyn Carrillo, Secretary; Josephine Guadalupe, Treasurer; Vivian Megaro, Public Relations: Nancy Rozon, Director; Mary Figliola, Substitute Director did a magnificent job selecting the students and  running the program smoothly. The committee selected the students for their achievements, trustworthiness, character, responsibility, fairness and academics.

The scholarship was established in 1992 for low-income students. Over the past 26 years, the club has awarded more than $35,000 in scholarships to 60 High School seniors of Martin and St. Lucie counties. The board raises money for the scholarships by having garage sales, 50/50 raffles at the monthly dance parties and committee events.  The board also organizes other events such as picnics, cruises and garage sales. The committees organize events such as bowling, golf, billiard and dominoes tournaments.

The mission of the club is to promote friendship and solidarity among its members, neighbors and other non profit organizations of the Treasure Coast through cultural, social, civic, charity and sports activities to promote knowledge of the Spanish speaking countries, their geography, history, art and folklore.

The Spanish American Club, Inc. awards scholarship

Logan Putnam

Logan was born in Stuart, Florida. His parents are Justin Putnam and Melissa Putnam Feliciano.  Logan’s father was born in Florida and mother was born in New York of Puerto Rican heritage. Logan attended Martin County High school in Stuart Florida and will be attending University of Central Florida where he will be pursuing a degree in Aerospace Engineering. Logan’s dream is to one day work for NASA.
