The Spanish American Club, Inc. collects toy for needy kids at holidays Event

The Thanksgiving party of the Spanish American Club was the beginning of the holiday season, the time to donate food baskets and to collect toys for the underprivileged families in need in the area.

The event was celebrated Saturday, Nov. 25 at the Disabled American Veterans Hall in Port St. Lucie.  The club continued a 24-year tradition by distributing food baskets to underprivileged families for Thanksgiving and collecting holiday gift bags to needy children in the area.  The toys will distributed by Herman Santa in Martin and Nancy Rozon in St. Lucie counties.  A big “Thank You” to the board, the members and their guests who donated the Christmas gifts for the children.

Spanish American Club celebrates Thanksgiving

The annual Thanksgiving event hosted by the Spanish American Club was celebrated Nov. 25 at the Disabled American Veterans Hall in Port St. Lucie.

Master of ceremonies and club President Ruben Aleman welcomed everyone to the party and gave an update of the status of the club and thanked everyone for their continued support. Members and guests enjoyed an evening of snacks, raffles, dancing and celebration of birthdays. DJ and Singer José Ramírez provided the entertainment.

Followed the president’s update, our public relation director Ray Guadalupe conducted the raffles, presented the Billiard Tournament winners and member who were present celebrating their November birthdays.

Door prize winners were Vivian Megaro, Pam Peña, Mirta Zapata, Elizabeth Mejía, Aminda Sampson, Gilberto Ferri, Lucy Santa, Yolanda Arnell, Daisy Alemán, Marie Muñoz, Evie Cardona and Denise Bodden. The 50/ 50 raffle winners were Cookie Santiago, Xiomara Guanill and Ed Parra.

Billiard tournament winners were Marco Peña, first place, Ivan Guanill second place and Mirta Zapata who received the award for Tony Cruz who finished third place. The Scholarship Entertainment book raffle winner was Galud Segura.

Celebrating their birthdays were Ray Guadalupe, Ernesta Monroe, Gus Meza, Diana Nieves, Vivian Megaro, Billy Betancourt, Denise Bodden, Javier Andrade, Luis Carrillo, Yolanda Medina and José Padilla.

A big “Thank You” to the board, the members and their guests who donated the door prizes and brought Christmas gifts for the children.

Founded in 1992, The Spanish American Club, Inc. is the oldest social, civic, sport and benevolence organization in the Treasure Coast. The club has become quite influential in the Treasure Coast area, playing a key role, for instance, in the scholarship program for Hispanic students from Martin and St. Lucie counties.

The club continued a 24-year tradition by distributing food baskets to underprivileged families for Thanksgiving and collecting holiday gift bags to needy children in the area.

Some members bowl every Monday at 6:00 P.M. at the Saint Lucie Lanes while others play golf every Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at The Saints Golf Club. Others play dominoes every Wednesday at the St. Lucie Lanes at 6:00 P.M.

» The club’s Christmas event will be on Friday, Dec. 29 and it will be catered. Live music with Herencia Latina and D.J. José Ramírez. Reservations are required.

Golf Tournament 2017

Spanish American Club, Inc. Golfers tee up for their Annual Scholarship Tournament event at The Saints Golf Club in Port St. Lucie

Members and their friends of the Spanish American Club, Inc. took to the greens and fairways for the Annual Golf Tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at The Saints Golf Club in Port St. Lucie.

Golf practices started back in January once a week and golfers were accumulating points in each game until their last game at the end of Nov.  The 2 men scramble event featured a number of activities, including “The Longest Drive”, “Closest to the Pin” “Low Score”, “Most Points”.

The following prizes were awarded; Ralph Morrison “Longest Drive”, Ed Seubert “Closest to the Pin”, Gus Migliore and Eric Frank “Low Score”, Ralph Morrison and Robert Osborne “Most Points”.

Other players that participated or made a donations were: Carl Atkins, Ruben Aleman, Norman Sepulveda, Bernard Jethroe, Papito Perez, Norman Robinson, David Santiago, José Garcia, Al Peña, Fernando Mejia, Herman Santa, Lou Rosa, Roberto Belardo, Carlos Bonet and Luis Arroyo.

Thanks to all the participants. Special thanks to David O’Kelly, Manager of The Saints Pro Shop who sponsored the tournament. Proceeds from the tournament went to support the Scholarship Funds of the club. For more information or to become part of the group email: hermansanta@comcast.net.

Exitoso Torneo Anual de Golf del Spanish American Club

Los socios y amistades del “Spanish American Club, Inc.” (SACI), terminaron las prácticas y celebraron su Torneo Anual de Golf 2017 en el The Saints Golf Club in Port St. Lucie.

Las prácticas empezaron en enero de este año una vez a la semana y los jugadores fueron acumulando puntos en cada juego hasta el último juego al final de noviembre.

El formato del torneo fue al estilo de “2 men scramble” que incluyó muchos premios como el de “Longest Drive”, “Closest to the Pin” “Low Score” y “Most Points”.

 

Los ganadores de los premios fuero los siguientes: “Longest Drive” Norman Robinson nativo de Jamaica, “Closest to the Pin” el estadounidense Ed Suebert , “Low Score” Gus Migliore nativo de Colombia con el estadounidense Eric Frank y finalmente el de “Most Points” Ralph Morrison nativo de Barbados con el estadounidense Robert Osborne.

Gracias a todos los que participaron en el torneo. Gracias al Gerente del Pro shop The Saints David OKelly quien auspició el evento. Las ganancias irán al fundo de la beca del club para estudiantes hispanos.

El grupo se formó después que se fundó el club hace más de 25 años. Las prácticas son en invierno todos los miercoles después de las 1 de la tarde y en verano despué de las 10 de la mañana.  Algunos apuestan en los hoyos de Par 3 (Longest drive, Greenies y Birdies) y otros en el total de puntos (1 por Bogey, 2 por Par y 3 por Birdie).

 

La esperanza del grupo es unir a los golfistas hispanos y hacer un torneo de golf al final de la temporada para recaudar fondos para la beca que ofrece el club a estudiantes hispanos de bajos ingresos residentes del área.   Las personas que estén interesadas en unirse al grupo pueden llamar o mandar mensaje de texto al (772) 486-4928, correo electrónico hermansanta@comcast.net

 

El Club es una corporación con fines no lucrativos fundada en el 1992 para conservar y promover la cultura hispana en la Costa del Tesoro. El objetivos principal es promover el intercambio cultural, de idioma, geografía, costumbres, historia, arte y folklore de los paises de habla hispana.

 

La próxima actividad de los socios este mes está planeada para el sábado 25 de noviembre para celebrar el Baile de Acción de Gracias.  Reservación es requerida. El último evento del club este año está planeado para el viernes 29 de diciembre para celebrar las navidades con cena/baile, música en vivo con la banda Herencia Latina y D.J. en el Polish American Club de Port St. Lucie.
