“Christmas Party” y “Christmas Toys Drive”

El sábado 18 de diciembre los socios del “Spanish American Club, Inc.” celebraron la fiesta navideña anual en una residencia privada en la ciudad de Jensen Beach.
Despues de las picadas y el coctél se colectaron los juguetes navideños para ser donados en Indiantown y Ft. Pierce por Willie González. Luego se sirvió la cena, y después se bailó hasta la madrugada. Las próxima actividad del está planeada para el 31 de diciembre en el Jaycee Park en la ciudad de Port St. Lucie.

Cruise 2002
Exitoso Crucero del “Spanish American Club, Inc.”

Con mucha alegría, baile, espectáculos, desayuno y almuerzo, se llevó a cabo exitosamente el tradicional crucero anual del “Spanish American Club, Inc.” el domingo 16 de abril en el “Texas Treasure Casino”.
Mas de 60 personas, almorzaron, bailaron, apostaron en los casinos y se divirtieron con los espectáculos. El viaje empezó a las 8:30 de la mañana en el parqueo del supermercado “Albertson” de Port Lucie. Abordamos el bus que el club rentó a “Around the Clock” para salir del puerto de Palm Beach. El evento social fue organizaso por Gladys Piñeiro, se caracterizó por su orden y puntualidad. Hay que felicitarla por otro viaje en barco bien planeado.

El sábado 27 de octubre los socios del “Spanish American Club, Inc” celebraron el “Baile de Máscaras” en el salon de bailes del Disabled American Club (DAV) en la ciudad de Port St. Lucie. La fiesta fue amenizada por Show Time DJ, empezó a las 8:30 de la noche y terminó a la 12:30 de la madrugada como estaba programado. El evento fue bien planeado por la Junta Directiva compuesta por la Presidenta Gladys Piñeiro, Vice Presidenta; Ana Swift, Tesorero; Ron Bryson, Secretaria Lucy Santa y Vocal; Maria Arcuate.
Todos disfrutaron con sus familiares y amistades toda la noche con el mejor D.J. del momento, Horacio Figueroa y su “Mobil D.J.’s”. La próxima actividad está programada para el 28 de diciembre en el restaurante Don Ramon para celebrar la fiesta anual de Navidad.

Father’s 2011
Spanish American Club hosts Father’s Day Party

On Saturday, June 25, the Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) held its Annual Father’s Day Party at a private clubhouse in Ft. Pierce. Over 40 guests attended the event. Attendees were treated to a delicious latin buffet prepared by the members of the club. D. J. Adan Mendoza from Memdoza Sound entertained the guests. Among the guests were: Vivi Bercey and her sister Andrea Moreira, Marco and Linda Herrera, Anthony and Mindy Rozon.
After the dinner, master of ceremony Karen Diamond called up the names of the members that were present to celebrate their birthdays. Among the members present were: Isa Bryson, Cecilia Pulido, Lucy Santa, Herman Santa, Alicia Abbate and Gladys Vélez. They were asked to stand near the birthday cake while the D.J. played a “Happy Birthday” song for them.
Followed the birthday celebration, the directors held the raffle for the 50/50, door prizes and the hat dance contest. Isa Bryson was the lucky winner of the 50/50. Door prize winners were: Virginia Feliciano, Al Feliciano, Dick Diamond, Joan Costa and Audrey Heltzer. Virginia Feliciano won the hot dance contest.
Special thanks go to the decoration and set ups committees, and the board of directors who donated the door prizes and helped to make the event a success. And finally thanks to the generosity of the attendees who bought raffle tickets for the event. The next event has been scheduled for Saturday, July 9th to celebrate the Annual Picnic at the Jensen Beach Park.

“Open House” de los socios

El pasado 19 de noviembre los socios del Club Hispano Americano celebró su reunión mensual en la residenica de la familia Palenzuela en Port St. Lucie. Después de la reunión de la Junta Directiva, Arnaldo y María Palenzuela nos tenian un rico bufét para celebrar la ocasión. La próxima reunión será el 14 de diciembre en el restaurante “Havana Biltmore” en la ciudad de Stuart para celebar la fiesta navideña y colectar juguetes para niños pobres.

El sábado 20 de abril los socios del “Spanish American Club, Inc.” celebraron un “Open House” en una residencia privada en Jensen Beach. Después de la cena les cantamos feliz cumpleaños a los cumpleañeros en el mes de abril. Los socios que cumplieron años fureron María Finnerty, Herman Santa, Lucy Santa, Cecilia Vignier y Zoraida Echevarría. Pasamos una noche muy buena compartiendo con los socios, familiares y amistades.
La próxima actividad está señalada para el 5 de mayo para celebrar el “Scholarship Night Dance en el Centro Comunitario de Port St. Luce. El evento será amenizado por el “Due Riviera” de Port St. Lucie y alternando los D.J’s del club (Juan Carlos Gayos, Herman Santa y César Bohórquez).

Fiesta navideña y recolección de juguetes

El sábado 14 de diciembre los socios se reunieron en el restaurante “Havana Biltmore de Staurt para celebrar la Navidad y recolectar los juguetes navideños. Los socios e invitados disfrutaron de una cena navideña y mucha camaradería. Más de 30 socios donaron regalos nuevos en bolsas de Navidad para los niños pobres del área. El comité de recolección de juguetes está compuesto por Herman Santa y Willie González. Herman y Willie llevarán los regalos a las ciudades de Indiantown y Ft. Pierce.

El Spanish American Club celebró su “Get Together” mensual el sábado 20 de septiembre en la residencia de Tom y Kathy González en la ciudad de White City. Tom y Kathy como siempre tan amables y cariñosos nos recibieron con abrazos, coctél y picadas. Después de los tragos nos tenian una cena preparada por unos amigos de ellos. Luego nos pusieron música bailable y disfrutamos de una noche alegre y divertida. Gracias Tom y Kathy por ese “Open House” que les quedó muy bueno.

Scholarship winner 2011 Nancy Velazquez
The Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) awarded a scholarship to a local Hispanic student. The recipient of the scholarship is Nancy Velasquez who was born in Guatemala and lives in Indiantown. Nancy is a student at South Fork High School. She will attend Indian River State College to become a Nurse.
The student was selected as a winner for the year 2011 from more that 16 students who applied for the scholarship of the club. The award is presented each year by the club and is based on grades, academic accomplishments and economic needs. This year scholarship committee chair is Herman Santa, co chair with Isa Bryson and Nancy Rozon selected the students for their achievements, trustworthiness, character, responsibility, fairness, caring and academics.
The student was asked to write an essay in Spanish and submit letters of recommendation. She was interviewed by the committee and was asked several questions concerning her goals and objectives and why she deserved the scholarship. The student has been awarded $500 scholarships. The (SACI) is a non profit organization. The club was founded in 1992 by 9 Hispanics families from Martin and St. Lucie Counties to promote the Hispanic heritage and to unite the Hispanics on the Treasure Coast.
The SACI scholarship was established in 1992 for low income students. Over 25 High School seniors from Martin and St. Lucie had benefited from the scholarships. Over $13,000 has been awarded to local students. The members organize monthly events, golf, bowling and dominoes tournaments, picnics and boat trips to raise funds for the scholarship and to run the club.

El sábado 31 de diciembre el “Spanish American Club, Inc.” celebró su “New Year’s Eve Dance” en el clubhouse de la YMCA en Port St. Lucie. El local fue elegantemente decorado para la ocasión por la comitiva del club. La presidenta, Yolanda Sanchez, dió una cordial bienvenida a los socios e invitados. Las mesas estaban llenas de pitos, gorros, matracas, coronas y de otros artículos para celebrar el Nuevo Año. Antes de la media noche deleitamos el paladar con con las picadas que trajeron los socio para festejar la ida de Año Viejo. El baile fue amenizado por el “Duo Riviera” de Port St. Lucie.
