SACI is ready for its 3rd Annual Bowling Tournament

The Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) is counting with the participation of at least 20 of its members at their 3rd Annual Bowling Tournament to take place next year. To participate there will be a registration fee (approx. $20 per person). This fee includes 4 games per person but the bowling shoes renta1 fee is no included. The event is organized by the Bowling Committee of the club. The purpose is to develop new yearly activities for SACI members and to raise money to benefit the club’s scholarship fund. SACI’s Bowling Committee will be in charge of the match. To participate, one must register prior of the event.

Con la particiticipación de por lo menos de 20 socios del Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) iniciará pronto el 3er Torneo de Bolos Anual del club. Las reglas del torneo serán las siguietes: Incripciones (apróx. $20 por persona). La cuota incluirá 4 juegos por persona pero no incluye la renta de zapatos. El torne estará organizado par el Comité deBolos del dub. La intención es desarrollar una nueva actividad recreativa para los socios y a la misma vez reunir fondos para la beca estudiantil del club. El Comité de Bolos del SACI estará acargo del arbritaje del tomeo, que se jugará en sistemade puntuación de promedio. Nuestra expectative es que los socios, famitiares, amisades y el público en gereral participlen en este torneo.

Do you like bowling? Can you be a team player and willing to practice once a week? If you are a member of the Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) and answer yes to these questions, I would like to hear from you! We practice once a week on Sundays at the Jensen Beach bowl. We start at 7:00 until 9:00 P.M., which will give us enough time to play three or four games at a Penny a Pin. The practices are voluntarily. If you like bowling and would like to make new friends, come and join us and have fun with us. We are a fun group!

Los socios del “Spanish American Club, Inc.”, SACI (por sus siglas en inglés) están jugando boliche los domingos desde las 7:00 hasta las 10 p.m. en la bolera de Jensen Beach Lanes. Se juegan 3 juegos por persona. Esta actividad es solamente para los socios y familiares, pero aquellas personas que quieran unirse al grupo y quieran ingresar al club, pueden venir y participar. La bolera tiene precios muy bajos “Penny a Pin” o un centavo por cada pino. El grupo de participantes disfrutan de una noche llena de confraternización y camaradería. !Los espero en la bolera!

Thanksgiving Party…Turkey, wine and music

On Saturday, November 13th, the Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) celebrated the Annual Thanksgiving Dinner-Dance Party at a private club house in Port St. Lucie. The members and their guests were greeted with hugs from the board of directors and drank the sangria punch prepared for the occasion. They had enough food, great music and enough wine to keep the monthly Get Together going well into the late ours of the night.
During a break, D.J. Adan Mendoza played a Happy Birthday song for Billy Betancourt and Frank Schroedl. Then the board of directors raffled the door prizes, held the 50/50 raffle and the hat dance contest. Door Prize Winners were: Nilda Betancourt, Angel Pellot and Dinah Herrera. The 50/50 Winner was Jimmy Rivera and Nikole Rozon winner of the Hat Dance Contest.
Congratulations to Jimmy Rivera, and his directors for working tireless to make the Thanksgiving Party a big success. A big thank to Delia Diaz and her son Victor Casiano for hosting the party. And finally, a big thanks you to the generosity of our club members Nora Candelario from Vacation Super Store, Inc. and Reinaldo Mathias who made donations for our scholarship. Nora donated $150 and Reinaldo donated $100. Next month event of the club is the Annual Christmas Party at the same location on Saturday December 18th.

“Los Playeros”, Campeones Torneo de Dominós 1999

Los “Playeros”, compuestos por José Encarnación y su hijo Alex Encarnación de Port St. Lucie, se quedaron solos en el primer lugar desde el inicio del “Torneo de Dominós”. “Los Playeros” elitminaron a “Los Dominantes”, compuestos por Herman Santa y Willie González para la serie de “Play-off” de 5 juegos. El segundo encuentro se jugó el sábado 13 de junio en la residencia de Tony y Barbara Ortíz en la ciudad de White City. Alli también pasamos un buen rato pues el local se presta pare este tipo de actividad. Tony y Barbara tienen un cuarto especialmente preparado para jugar dominós. Y como dice el refrán “Tiraron las puertas por la ventana”.
Hubo dos “Chivas” o “Pollonas” durante el torneo. Los trofeos se presentarán el 31 de octubre en el ‘Baile de Mascaras”. Los diez jugadores receibirán un trofeo cada uno a nombre del “Spanish American Club, Inc.”. La orden de premios es la siguiente: Primer Puesto, “Los Playeros”, segundo puesto, “Los Dominantes”, tercer puesto, “Los Americanos”, cuarto puesto, “Los Gordos” y quinto puesto, “Los Gallos”. El proximo año se espera que el torneo tenga más participantes. Se empezará en primavera y las reglas se modificarán un poco para que el torneo sea más corto. A todos los participantes gracias por su amabilidad y la hospitalidad que nos brindaron en sus residencias. El torneo fue todo un éxito, los esperamos el próximo año!

Bowling 2007
Let’s go bowling!

Members of the Spanish American Club, Inc (SACI) went out bowling. The activity took place on Sunday, July the 30th at Port St Lucre Lanes. Some members and guests gathered together the bowling practice. Members are practicing on Sundays at 7:00 P.M. at the bowling located at Jensen Bowl. The cost for bowling is $1 per game and 2 games per person will be played in order to establish the handicap. This activity is meant only for members and family, but those people interested in participating and willing to join the club, can come and participate. The bowling alley has very reasonable prices (everything is $1, beer, pizza, etc.) on Sunday nights. The group is participants enjoyed an evening full of fraternity and comradely. Activities like this are the ones that move the club forward. See you on Sunday!

Los socios del Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) por sus siglas en ingles se fueron a jugar boliche. La actividad se celebró el domingo 30 de julio en la bolera de Port St. Lucie Lanes. Se dieron cita algunos socios e invitados para las practices. Los socios se reunen los dominos a las 7 de la noche en la bolero “Jensen Bowl”. El costo durante las practices es de $1 por juego y se juegan dos juegos por persona para establecer el “Handicap”. Esta actividad es solamente para los socios y familares, pero aquellas peronas que quieren unirse al grupo y quieren ingresar al club, pueden venire y participar. La bolera tiene precios muy bajos (todo cuesta un dólar-cerveza, pizza,etc.) los domingos por la noche. El grupo de participantes disfrutan de una noche llena de confraternización y camaraderie. Actividades como estas hacen que el club sigfa adelante. ¡Nos vemos el próximo domingo!

RICO AL FRENTE EN LAS PRACTICAS Y LETICIA A LA PUNTA DE LAS DAMAS

Desde que se empezaron las prácticas de bolos el mes pasado, Rico Arnell, En la rama masculina y Leticia Goff en la femenina, marchan al frente en las prácticas de bolos de los socios del “Spanish American Club, Inc.” Rico lleva un total de 3,055 palos derribados hasta el 28 de agosto. Roger Janke, estä en segindo lugar con2,922 pinos derribados. En ía rama fernenin Leticia Goff estã al frente con 1,267 pinos derribados. Lucy Santa con 847. Otros socios e invitados que están practicando son: Herman Santa, Nick Arnell, José Aguirre, Al Saladin, Blanca Mireya Kaiser, Agueda Mejia, Cassie Arnell, Armelle La 0, Amparo Preciado y Patty Santa.
El “ler. Torneo de Bolos” estaprogramado para el año próximo en octubre 2005 en la bolera dePort St Lucie Lanes, localizada en el 6759 Sotith US. 1, Port St Lucie. El evento empezará a las 5:30 de la tarde. La donación será de $20 por persona y cubre 3 juegos. Habrá trofeos para los tres primeros puestos (Caballeros y Darnas). Las personas que no tiênen zapatos para jugar bolos, los pueden rentar a $2.12. Las ganancias irán al fondo de becas del “Spanish American Club, Inc. Scholarship Fund”. Las personas interesadas deben registrarse antes del torneo. Remitir un cheque a nombre de Spanisti American Club, Inc. P.O. Box 9356, Port St Lucie, FL 34985. La proxima actividad para los [socios estä planeada para el sábado 24 de septiembre en la residencia de un socio en la ciudad de Port St. Lucie: No olviden que la directiva está planeando el torneos de golf.

Halloween 2010
Annual Halloween Party

On Saturday, October 30, 2010, Danny and Jaimie Duval opened up their beautiful home in Port St. Lucie for the member’s monthly Get Together, and their guests. The monthly social event reception was an opportunity for many members to meet new members, eat and dance and raise funds for the scholarship. Among the new faces were Ana Moran, Julio Garcia and Luisa Cintron.
The Annual Halloween Party was a big success. The members and their guests had a wonderful time dancing to the latin beat of Mendoza Sound. Many members and their guests walked away with raffle prizes and all went home with hopes that next year the event will be better. The event raised some funds for the scholarship. The food was delicious, the music was great and the decoration committee did a good job. We saw ghosts, clowns, monsters, vampires, pirates and witches. There were door prizes, 50/50 raffle, best costumes and hat a dance contest.
The best costumes winners were: 1st Place; Felix Asencio(Romeo) and Millie Gordon (Cleopatra), 2nd Place; Xiomara Guanill (Clown); John and Blanche Duval (Hillbillies); 3rd Place; 4th Place: Danny Duval (Policeman) and 5th Place; Virginia and Al Feliciano (Cowboys). Other winners were: Billy Betancourt (Door Prize), Dick Diamond (Door Prize), Luisa Cintron (50/50) and Millie Gordon (Hat Dance). The members were incredibly supportive and everyone really enjoyed an evening of fun. To all the members and guests who made donations for the door prizes, we appreciate your generosity. A big thank to the Rivera-Duval family.
