Bowling Scores 2023

Celebrating our 31st Anniversary every month!

Important message:

The Spanish American Club, Ince Board of Directors has stipulated that if you are yet to pay the Club’s annual membership dues ($40/person), today will be the last time you’ll be able to bowl in the league until the dues are received.  If you haven’t paid yet, please bring your dues next time you come bowling.  Refer to message below.  Thanks.

This is just a reminder that the Monday bowling league sponsored by SACI is not open to the general public.  This amenity is for the enjoyment of SACI members in good standing and their sponsored guests only.  As an established league, participants receive benefits such as discounted lane fees, reserved lanes, warmup time before bowling start, free rental shoes, prize pool, and scorekeeping/stats.  Club members and their guests enjoy this amenity in a friendly environment and at a significantly reduced cost compared to open bowling.

If you haven’t already done so, remember to pay your 2023 club annual dues ($40/person).   If you are not a member and would like to join, please contact Carlos Bonet (c.bonet@aol.com) to obtain a SACI Membership Application Form.

Message from Andres:

Please find attached pdf files containing Individual Bowling Score Stats and Leaderboard tables for various score categories covering the entire 2022 year.

In an effort to highlight the advantages of the handicap scoring system when comparing individual scores, I’ve added a couple of new stats categories to the chart.  These are 200+ Games and 600+ Series.  These handicap stats show the number of games that you score 200 or more points and the number of 3-game series that you score 600 or more points.  Even though you might be a low average bowler, with handicap applied you can be competitive as it levels the playing field for all bowlers.

Also, this year I’m revising the weekly report format using the popular concept of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals given in the Olympics and other sports events.  For each of the 3 games, the bowler with the best score is awarded a Gold medal worth 5 points, a Silver medal worth 3 points for the second best score and a Bronze medal worth 1 point for the third best score.  Understand this is a virtual medal, not a real hard medal.  The attached ‘Individual Bowling Score Stats’ pdf file captures the medals count and medal points totals earned by each bowler during 2022.  The revised weekly report format does not change how handicap scores are calculated or how Prize Pool money is awarded.  It’s just another way to present the scores.  I hope you’ll find it appealing and fun.

I will resend the 2 January results using the new report format.

Let’s have a fantastic bowling year.

Regards,

Andres

New Bowling Shirt

For those interested in ordering a custom bowling shirt through Amazon, below are the links.  There are many designs to choose from but these are just the ones I found more appealing and fitting to the Club’s name.  I use ‘The Spanish American Club’ as the team name but more characters can be added if you want to use the Club’s full name: The Spanish American Club, Inc.

Ruben provided an updated bowling schedule and lane assignment as follow.  We will continue to adjust lane assignments based on attendance and lane capacity.

Group          Head Bowler

Ladies      –   Nereida Pellot

Mixed-I     –   Al Feliciano

Mixed-II    –   Herman Santa

Gents       –   Andrés Padilla

All bowlers MUST first register with Ruben Aleman (or his representative) and pay lane fees at the sign-in table.  If you regularly bowl with the person listed above, you should expect to be assigned to that group.  However, on any given Monday, Ruben at his discretion may assign you to a group other than the one you regularly bowl with in order to keep the lanes from overcrowding (maximum 4 bowlers per lane) or to balance groups that have too few bowlers (i.e. less than 4 bowlers).  People that arrive to bowl after 6:00 PM may not be accommodated with their usual group.  Bowlers that would be late arriving or not coming at all, may notify the Head Bowler in their group so Ruben can make the proper adjustment to the group lineup.

SACI would normally occupy lanes 39 through 46.  Lanes 37-38 & 47-48 would be kept unassigned to provide for overflow and/or lane malfunction.  However, while the 50% capacity limit remains in force, we will be spread out between lanes 33 through 46, leaving a pair of lanes open in between each group.  Super Play will set up the electronic boards so up to 4 people may be assigned to a lane.  Ten (10) minute practice will start promptly at 6:00 PM.  Please arrive at least 30 minutes ahead to facilitate lane assignments.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
