Some members that attended assembly
(A Happy Kings Day my brothers and sisters of S.A.C.I.”, was the shout out to all of the membership attending this year’s Annual Assembly. It was an appropriate salutation given the celebration we of Spanish heritage observe on this day. It was also appropriate that we honored those of our membership no longer with us, with a moment of silence. In particular, Luis Carrillo, Treasurer of S.A.C.I. who passed in 2018.
This afternoon’s agenda proceeded with a call to order by President Ruben Aleman. He welcomed the members to this year’s assembly then introduced Vice President Nancy Rozon, who presented her progress report on the scholarship fund. Two scholarship awards were made in the amount of one thousand dollars and two more awarded in the amount of five hundred dollars to deserving seniors attending Treasure Coast high schools.
Next, Ruben introduced Herman Santa, chairman of the Golf committee, who reported on the success of this year’s golf tournament which added in excess of five hundred dollars to our club’s coffers. Being the administrator of our club website he expressed his content at having received over 63,000 visitors since it’s inception, 500 this year alone with about 30 members that visited on a regular basis. Ivan Guanill was recognized for conducting this year’s successful Domino tournament. A job well done, both you.
Exiting Substitute Director, Charlie Quiles addressed the assembly. He acknowledged the accomplishments of the current board pledging his colleagues to a smooth transition for the new Board of Directors. He reminded them that, “The mission of this club is to promote friendship and solidarity among its members and other non profit organizations throughout the Treasure Coast through cultural, social, civic and sport activities, and; by advancing the knowledge of all
Spanish speaking countries, their geography, history, art, and folklore”. Having been a rookie on the board this past year, he thanked everyone for “…a wonderful experience” that he would “…treasure, always”.
Next on the agenda came the vote for the new Board. Since all but one position (Public Relations Director) went uncontested, the tally of secret ballots went smoothly thanks to the assistance of members Yolanda Ramos and Elizabeth Mejia. The vote for the position of Public Relations Director went to Vivian Megaro. Carlos Bonet was elected President; Al Feliciano, Vice President; Evelyn Carrillo, Secretary; Josephine Guadalupe, Treasurer; Nancy
Rozon, Vocal Director, and; Mary Figliola, Substitute Director. We wish you all a successful tenure as our new S.A.C.I. officers. After the new Board was sworn in, President Carlos Bonet addressed the assembly. He thanked the assembly for their support and assured the assembly that the committee chairpersons would remain the same. They are, Nancy Rozon, Scholarship; Herman Santa, Golf and Website; Ivan Guanill, Dominos, and; Ruben Aleman, Bowling. Charlie Quiles was asked to continue his role creating flyers for the club events and writing ariticles describing them to the club membership.
During the tally of votes Nancy Rozon and Carlos Mejia arranged the 50/50 tickets for the subsequent drawing…and the winners were J.J. Santiago and Johnny Borras. The hard work of our f
ormer Board of Directors: President, Ruben Aleman; Vice President, Nancy Rozon; Treasurer, Luis Carrillo; Secretary, Raquel O’Connor; Public Relations Director, Ramon Guadalupe; Director, Carlos Mejia, and; Substitute Director, Charlie Quiles had to be recognized. C.I. ASAMBLEA ANUAL
2019 – Asamblea de S.A.C.I. afiliación
Carlos Bonet fue elegido presidente; Al Feliciano, Vicepresidente; Evelyn Carrillo, Secretaria; Josefina Guadalupe, Tesorera; Nancy Rozon, directora vocal, y; Mary Figliola, directora suplente.
