Sweet Heart Party: Music and lots of Latin food

On Saturday, February 19, 2011, the members of the Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) celebrated their Annual Valentine Dance at the Disabled American Veterans Club in Port St. Lucie.
The Sweet Heart Party started with a cocktail and followed by the dinner then the drawing of the door prizes, the Fifty/Fifty, the hat dance contest and finally the celebration of February birthday. The 80 guests in attendance enjoyed and danced until late at night with Mendoza Sound. Among the members that were present for the birthday celebration were Ivan Guanill, Nancy Rozon, Nora Candelario and Al Feliciano. They were asked to stand near the birthday cake while the D.J. played a “Happy Birthday” song.
Door prizes winners were: Norma Castro, Luz Castillo, Virginia Gonzalez, Magola Lopez, Laura La O and Pedro Gerardino. 50/50 winners were: Virginia Feliciano and Auristela Medina and the Hat Dance Contest winner was Gladys Piñeiro. The club raises funds through membership dues and special events that support the organization’s purpose such as the annual scholarship awards to High School seniors, Thanksgiving food baskets for needy families in Thanksgiving and Christmas toys in Christmas.
The members and the board of directors work very hard to keep the Hispanic community united and preserve the Hispanic heritage. The next event has been scheduled for Saturday, March 26 to celebrate Mardi Gras Party.

El sábado 19 de octubre los esposos Dana y Maite Peterson invitaron a los socios del club a su residencia para celebrar una “Paella Party” en la ciudad de Palm city. La fiesta comenzó a las 7:00 p.m., como siempre, con un coctel y luego disfrutamos la cena y los postres. Despues de la cena se celebraron los cumpleaños de los socios presentes y se bailó hasta trade en la noche. Que fiestón, los socios e invitados disfrutaron en grande entre tragos, picadas, música y con buenos amigos en un ambiente sano. Gracias Dana y Maite por una noche inolvidable. Fiestas como estas hacen que el club siga adelante.

Anniversary 2000
“SACI” celebra sus 8 años

El Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) celebró sus 8 años este verano. Para festejar el aniversario, los socios celebraron con una cena en el restuarante “Habana Biltmore” en la ciudad de Stuart.
El presidente Sr. Arnaldo Palenzuela, le dió la bienvenida a los socios e invitados. Con Arnaldo estuvieron presentes el resto de la directiva que ayudaron a planear la cena. Ellos son: Willie González; Vice Presidente, Martha Gonzáles; Tesorera, Sra Lee; Secretaria e Iliana Zequeira; Vocal.
La idea nació hace 8 año. cuando un grupo de hispanos se dieron la tarea de establecer una organización que procurase el acercamiento y amistad entre los hispanos que viven en la “Costa del Tesoro” y en especial entre puertorriqueños y cubanos, sin excluir personas de cualquier nacionalidad. Bajo ese principio, el 24 de junio de 1992, día en que se recibió la carta con los “Artículos de Incorporación”, se estableció el club.
Un mes antes, se organizá una “Asamblea Constituyente” celebrada en la escuelita de “Educare Center” de Tom y Kathy González en la cuidad de Port St. Lucie. El mismo día quedó constituida la primera Junta Directiva, cuya responsabilidad establecía mantener y cultivar las costumbres y tradiciones de los hispanos que viven en la “Costa del Tesoro”. Hoy día, aquel circulo que inicialmente fuera constituido por una matricula de 9 familias, cuenta ya con un numeroso grupo de asociados que se mantienen unidos por el mismo fin común.
