Spanish American Club celebrates Mardi Gras

The Annual Mardi Gras Party hosted by The Spanish American Club, Inc. was celebrated on Saturday, March. 28 at the Disabled American Veterans Club in Port St. Lucie.

Members and their guests enjoyed an evening of costumes, snacks, dancing, and of course, the beads. Our public relations director, Tony Colón and Carlos Bonet, president of the club updated the members about the next events and thanked every one of them for their continued support.

Member’s birthday celebration was enjoyed by all. Month of March birthday wishes to Jorge Lao, Raul Ruiz, Mercedes Roman and Fe Valderuten. After the birthday celebration and raffles drawing, everyone enjoyed the entertainment of DJ José Ramírez.

Door prize winners were: Evie Cardona, Annie Borras. 50/50 winners were: Ed Parra and Hector Gil . Big thanks go to the members and their guests who bought tickets for the scholarship raffle. And finally, many thanks to the members who helped with the decorations. Next event of the club has been scheduled for Saturday, April 25 to celebrate our Annual Picnic. Socios del Spanish American Club celebran Mardi Gras

Los Socios del Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) festejaron Mardi Gras el sábado 28 de marzo. La actividad se llevó a cabo en el Disabled American Veterans en Port St. Lucie.

Hubo celebración de cumpleaños, premios, rifas y baile hasta las 11 de la noche. Los cumpleañeros del mes de marzo que estaban presentes fueron: Jorge Lao, Raul Ruiz, Mercedes Roman y Fe Valderuten.

Los ganadores de los premios fueron: Evie Cardona y Annie Borras. Los del 50/50 fueron: Ed Parra y Hector Gil. Después de los cumpleaños y rifas nuestro D. J. José Ramírez nos puso a bailar hasta tarde en la noche. Gracias a la directiva por planear la fiesta y a los socios e invitados por comprar los boletos para la rifa. Las ganancias irán al fundo de la beca del club.

La próxima actividad del club está planeada para el sábado 25 de abril en la playa de Jensen Beach. Reservaciones son requeridas. Let’s Play Golf!

Some members of The Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) and their friends like to play golf. The golfers play 18 or 9 holes on Wednesdays. They play from January trough December (Winter after 12 P.M. and Summer after 9 A.M.) at The Saints in Port St. St. Lucie. Some of the players are: Herman Santa, Luis Rosa, Nick Arnell, Mike Smith, Doug Bortz, Ralph Harrison, Bernie Jethroe, Roberto Belardo, Rubén Sánchez, Gil Hulting, Don Taber, Jaime Rojas, Mike Pérez, Manny Carcel, Tony Colón, Neftalí Rivera, Jorge Pérez, Fernando Mejía, Rubén Alemán, Pete Marrero, Gus Migliore, Ed Seubert, Bill Allen, Jim Lynch, Al Peña, Frank Tenem, Scott Mergerle, Luie Arroyo, Jim Lao, Carlos Bonet and Ray Guadalupe. They are participating on the try outs since the group was formed over 20 years ago. Some play “Closest to the Pin” on all Par Threes and others play the point system (Birdie 3 points, Par 2 points and a Boggie, 1 point). Los socios y amigos del “Spanish American Club, Inc.”(SACI) continuan jugando golf en el campo de golf de “The Saint” en Port St. Lucie. Todos los miercoles después de las 12 de la tarde (9 de la mañana en verano). Herman Santa, Luis Rosa, Nick Arnell, Mike Smith, Doug Bortz, Ralph Harrison, Bernie Jethroe, Roberto Belardo, Rubén Sánchez, Gil Hulting, Don Taber, Jaime Rojas, Mike Pérez, Manny Carcel, Tony Colón, Neftalí Rivera, Jorge Pérez, Fernando Mejía, Rubén Alemán, Pete Marrero, Gus Migliore, Ed Seubert, Bill Allen, Jim Lynch, Al Peña, Frank Tenem, Scott Mergerle, Luie Arroyo, Jim Lao, Carlos Bonet y Ray Guadalupe Ellos están participando en los “Try Outs” desde que se formó el grupo hace más de 20 años. Se empieza hasta que se llegue a los veinte juegos para determinar el “Handicap” de cada jugador. Algunos apuestan en los hoyos de “Par 3” y otros en el total de puntos (Birdie 2 puntos, Par 2 puntos y Boggie, 1 punto). La esperanza del grupo es unir a los golfistas hispanos y hacer un torneo de golf al final de la temporada para recaudar fondos para la beca que ofrece el club a estudiantes hispanos de bajos ingresos.
