The Spanish American Club, Inc. celebrates Father’s Day

To our fathers, your night was celebrated by The Spanish American Club, Inc. at the D.A.V. in Port St. Lucie, Fl.  Our appreciation of your service and dedication to your families was well deserved. Your children and in some cases your grandchildren in attendance attested to that fact. Why even our own president Rubén Alemán was so overwhelmed that he performed a solo dance to the tune of ‘Rock Around the Clock’ to everyone’s delight. The night’s highlights included a return by ‘Zorba’ (Ray Matias). His astonishing rendition of the famed Greek lured many contributors who stuffed his shirt and pants pockets with donations. These proceeds were added to our scholarship coffers.

The buffet served up by our volunteers Isaiah, Jocelyn, Christian and Brianna included red beans, a choice of arroz con pollo (red rice and chicken) or arroz con gandules (red rice and pigeon peas), a choice of chicken or beef patties, pulled pork and a side dish of fresh salad. Desert consisted of a luscious white cake topped with white frosting and fruit.

Door prizes were awarded to the lucky winners. They included Andrés Padilla, Carly Werhly, Félix Sanabria, Francisca Mata, Cármen Medina, Naomí Sanabria, Nereida Román and Aminda Sampson.

Our birthday celebrants for the month of June were, Tony Cruz, Gilberto Ferri, Gilbert Parades, Naomí Sanabria, Roberta Linares and Cecilia Pulido.

Finally the two winners of tonight’s 50/50 raffle were, Vivian Megaro and Gloria Ramírez. Of course walking back to their seats Charlie Q. playfully attempted to charm Vivian M. into sharing her newly won prize with him. But Vivian would have no part of it claiming he could not double her winnings like the one person she knew that could. With that she forked it over into her smiling husband’s waiting hands. Good for you, Frank.

Again, as usual, all of this was made possible through the hard work of our Board of Directors: President, Rubén Alemán; Vice President, Nancy Rozon; Treasurer, Luis Carillo; Acting Interim Secretary, Charlie Quiles; Public Relations Director, Ramón Guadalupe, and; Director, Carlos Mejía. If I have forgotten anyone, pardon me. We applaud your efforts. Thank you all.

The Spanish American Club was founded in 1992. The mission of the club is to promote friendship and solidarity among its members and other non profit organizations throughout the Treasure Coast through cultural, social, civic and sport activities; to promote knowledge of all Spanish speaking countries, their geography, history, art, and folklore.

The next event to celebrate International Pride is on July 28th at the Polish American Social Club, 343 NW Prima Vista Blvd, PSL, Fl. There will be a buffet and reservations are required. The Spanish American Club, Inc. celebra el Día del Padre

Para nuestros padres, su noche fue celebrada por el Spanish American Club, Inc. en el Disabled American Veterans Club (D.A.V.) en Port St. Lucie, Fl.  Nuestro aprecio por su servicio y dedicación a sus familias estuvo bien merecido. Sus hijos y en algunos casos sus nietos en asistencia atestiguado por ese hecho. Por qué incluso nuestro propio presidente Rubén Alemán fue tan abrumado que realizó un baile en solitario con la melodía de ‘Rock Around the Clock’ para el deleite de todos. Los puntos destacados de la noche incluyeron un regreso por ‘Zorba’ (Ray Matias). Su asombrosa interpretación del famoso griego atrajo a muchos colaboradores que le se metieron en los bolsillos de la camisa y los pantalones con donaciones. Estos ingresos se agregaron a nuestras arcas de becas.

El buffet fue servido por nuestros voluntarios Isaiah, Jocelyn, Christian y Brianna incluyó frijoles rojos, una opción de arroz con pollo o arroz con gandules, una selección de pastelillo de pollo o carne de res, carne vieja y un plato de ensalada fresca. El postre consistía en un exquisito pastel blanco cubierto con glaseado blanco y fruta.

Los premios de la puerta se otorgaron a los afortunados ganadores. Ellos eran Andrés Padilla, Carly Werhly, Félix Sanabria, Francisca Mata, Cármen Medina, Naomí Sanabria, Nereida Román y Aminda Sampson.  Nuestros celebrantes de cumpleaños para el mes de junio fueron Tony Cruz, Gilberto Ferri,Gilbert Parades, Naomí Sanabria, Roberta Linares y Cecilia Pulido.

Finalmente los dos ganadores de la rifa 50/50 de esta noche fueron, Vivian Megaro y Gloria Ramírez. Por supuesto, caminando de regreso a sus asientos, Charlie Q. juguetonamente intentó encantar a Vivian M. para que compartiera su premio recientemente ganado con él. Pero Vivian no queira parte de ello, alegando que no podía duplicar sus ganancias como la única persona que sabía que podría. Con eso ella lo bifurcó en las manos que esperaban de su sonriente esposo. Bien por ti, Frank.

Una vez más, como de costumbre, todo esto fue posible gracias al arduo trabajo de nuestra Junta Directiva: el presidente, Rubén Alemán; Vicepresidente, Nancy Rozon; Tesorero, Luis Carillo; Secretario Interino en funciones, Charlie Quiles; Director de Relaciones Públicas, Ramón Guadalupe, y Director, Carlos Mejía. Si he olvidado a alguien, perdóname. Aplaudimos sus esfuerzos. Gracias a todos.
