Annual Get Together residence of John and Cristina Abbott

By Herman Santa

As always happens when friends come together to share a pleasant and special moment, joy flows abundantly, and every time the friendship group gathers, there is always food, music, and enjoyment. That’s what took place on Saturday, January 21, at the residence of John and Cristina Abbott when they offered their home in the “Crane Creek-Martin Downs” neighborhood in Palm City to celebrate the 1st “Get Together” of the year. The event began with a “Wine and cheese” cocktail, and then the numerous members of the “Spanish American Club, Inc.” and their guests enjoyed a delicious dinner featuring Latin dishes and desserts.

The dance began with Spanish music. The highlight was the hostess, her compatriot Maite Peterson, and the Mexican Carolina Weeks, who danced flamenco. It was an amazing celebration to start the year in which we had a wonderful time. Thank you, John and Cristina, for another well-planned gathering.

Annual Spring with live music “Rumba Brothers” at Andrée Gómez residence, Port St. Lucie

By Herman Santa

The cheerful and charismatic partner Marie Andrée Gómez was the host of a tremendous party on Saturday, March 18, to celebrate the monthly “Get Together” of the cooks at her residence in Port St. Lucie. After dinner, the DJs from “Rumba Brothers” played salsa and Colombian music, which we danced to non-stop until late at night.

he highlight of the night was the quartet “Puerto Colombiano” (Colombians living in Port St. Lucie) composed of Daniel Acevedo, Jorge Prado, Lucas Pérez, and Leonardo Meléndez, who entertained us with live music from yesteryear. Thank you, Marie, for another well-planned “Get together.”

Get together at Prado family’s in the Lake Lucie Clubhouse clubhouse

By Herman Santa

Their partners encourage one to socialize with them, the compact disc music (and occasionally live) invites dancing, enjoyment, and shedding any discomfort one may have. And for “The Friendship Group,” as some partners call the “Spanish American Club, Inc,” it is important that everyone, including guests, has a good time, setting aside problems and the exhaustion of daily life.

The fresh air of these days, along with the pleasant company of club members and guests, contributed to making the evening a very special occasion, as we were all comfortable, sharing and enjoying various delicacies of our countries’ gastronomy that delighted the guests.

The partners and guests began to arrive after 4 in the afternoon. The Prado family welcomed us at the “Clubhouse” of the “Lake Lucy” neighborhood, where they greeted us with a smile and a hug. Then, the party started with cocktails, appetizers, camaraderie, dinner, dessert, and dancing. The “Get Together” culminated late at night with bohemian music. The highlight of the evening was the Colombian lawyer Daniel Acevedo, who entertained us with his guitar and sang beautiful Colombian melodies from the past.

Some of the songs that Daniel performed were “La pollera colorá,” “Negrita,” “Se va el caiman,” “Noche de Cartagena,” and “Cenizas.” We really had a great time. Thanks to the Board of Directors, to Jorge, and to Teresita Prado for another party full of flavor. I suggest to my friends that if they enjoy dancing, good food, and camaraderie, they should join the club because they will have joyful moments.
