Annual picnic Langford Park Clubhouse

By Herman Santa

On Monday, July 4th, the members of the Spanish American Club, Inc. celebrated “Father’s Day” and “July 4th” at Langford Park in Jensen Beach. The picnic is held every year in a park, but this year it took place at the Mike Bocchino Club House. The event was a success, as we enjoyed a good barbecue, desserts, music, and great camaraderie. While some played dominoes, others danced. The children had fun with the “Line Dances.” During a break, the club president, Dr. Enrique Ospina, addressed the audience, welcomed everyone, and announced the upcoming activities.

Rae Ann Ospina won the 50/50. The proceeds from the raffle will go to the “Spanish American Club, Inc. Scholarship Fund.” Thanks to Maite Peterson and Glady Piñeiro for helping to raise the funds. The committee for this event included Enrique and Rae Ann Ospina, Rico and Casta Arnell, Nidia Barraza, and myself, who were responsible for planning the activity. Thanks to Luis Nieves for helping me with the music. We cannot forget Rene, Lila, and Kristal Cifuentes, who assisted us with the barbecue and decoration.

“Get Together” at the beach “Nettle Island Club House”

By Herman Santa

Summer has arrived along with outdoor parties, barbecues, and splashes in the pools. The heat and humidity are starting to rise, signaling that summer is truly here. These are the best days to enjoy the beach. This is exactly what the members of the “Spanish American Club, Inc.” (SACI) did on Saturday, July 23, to celebrate the monthly “Get Together” at the “Club House” of one of the members on Hutchison Island. From the early hours of the evening, Tony Sauco, the homeowner, and his aunt Raquel Medina welcomed the members, as well as family, friends, and guests who gathered at the cabin overlooking the sea on Nettles Island.

Annual Valentine with D.J. Horacio Figueroa at the Jensen Beach Women’s Club

By Herman Santa

The traditional Lovers’ Dance took place on Saturday, February 12th at the Jensen Beach Women’s Club. Amid drinks, dancing, and many couples in love, the large attendance was able to enjoy a night dedicated to romance and a great Latin disco featuring the latest rhythms of the moment. President Enrique Ospina and Vice President Bobby Rodríguez addressed the audience and informed them about the club’s plans for the year two thousand five. Afterwards, the (50/50) raffle was held for the student scholarship.

The winner was Nilda Sanchez. The other winners were: Linda Manzanares (A free ticket to the new nightclub “Mar y Sol”), Pedro Velazquez (A free ticket to the nightclub “Refuge” donated by Horacio Figueroa and his “Latin Mobil D.J.”), Albert Sabina (A haircut at “Jose’s Barbershop”).

The dance, enlivened by D.J. Horacio Figueroa, energized everyone present with his repertoire of Latin music and got everyone dancing to his delicious rhythm. It was a spectacular and unforgettable night. The SACI thanks all the people who attended the dance as it was well planned and successful. Thanks to those who helped us sell tickets and decorate the hall.
