Golf 2003 (Tournament-SACI)
Annual Golf Tournament at Savanna Club in Port St. Lucie

On Sunday, October 24th, the 4th Golf Tournament 2004 was held at the Savanna Club in Port St. Lucie with the participation of 11 couples. The tournament was played in a “Two Persons Best Ball” format in a spirit of true camaraderie. All proceeds generated were earmarked for the scholarship fund of the “Spanish American Club, Inc. Scholarship Fund.” The winners were: 1st “Low Gross”; Tyson Waters, Jack Sobel; 2nd “Low Gross”; Leticia Goff and Muriel Annunziata. 3rd “Low Gross”; Rico Arnell and Nick Arnell. The “Longest Drive” hole, sponsored by Jensen Beach Cleaners, was won by Ruben Sanchez. The “Closest to the Pin” hole, sponsored by the Latin Chamber of Commerce of the Treasure Coast, was won by Tom St. Clare, and the other “Closest to the Pin” hole, sponsored by Mystica, Exotic Home Accessories, was won by Nick Arnell. Rich Rodriguez won the “Fishing Lures” prize donated by Unfair Advantage Fishing Lures “DOA.”
After the tournament, members and guests celebrated the event at the Pueblo Viejo restaurant in Port St. Lucie, where trophies and gifts were distributed. Other participants in the tournament included: Joe Castro, Luis Rosa, Pete Marrero, Wilson Alers, Arnaldo Palenzuela, Argelio Del Valle, Dana Peterson, Ed Finnerty, Dominic Sica, Dave Kniper, Herman Santa, and Lou Alomoth. Attorney Gary Sweet could not participate in the event due to his political campaign. We wish him luck in his candidacy for judge in the Circuit 19 court. Don’t forget to vote for him in the general elections on Tuesday, November 2nd.
The event was organized by the Golf Committee. This year, the committee is composed of Dana Peterson, Leticia Goff, and Herman Santa. On behalf of the Golf Committee, we sincerely thank all our sponsors for their valuable contribution to the golf tournament. We also want to thank the players who participated, as without them the tournament would not have taken place, and a joyful time was had.


Cruise 2004 (St. Tropez)
Another successful boat trip “St. Tropez Casino Cruise”

With great joy and camaraderie, the traditional cruise trip of the “Spanish American Club, Inc.” took place successfully on Sunday, July 25. It all started when the members arrived at the parking lot of the “Boston Market” restaurant in Port St. Lucie to board the bus that the club rented from “St. Tropez Casino Cruise.”
Exactly at 8:00 in the morning, all the members and guests were ready to celebrate such an important social event, where more than 60 people enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and desserts. The traditional social event, organized by the club’s Vice President, Doña Gladys Piñeiro, was characterized by its organization, order, and punctuality. Over $300 was collected for the club’s scholarship. We must congratulate her on another well-planned activity, and as they say, “We take off our hats” to Doña Gladys.



Dominoes 2004 (Tournament)
Victor Garcia and Benjamin Caraballo conquer the 5th Domino Tournament at the Santas’ residence

With the participation of six couples, the 5th Domino Tournament 2004 took place on Saturday, October 9, at a private residence in Jensen Beach. Twelve people competed in the event. Victor Garcia and Benjamin Caraballo were crowned champions, losing only one game during the tournament. Herman Santa and Eddie Cardona finished in 2nd place. Alex López and Edgar López secured 3rd place. Other participants in the tournament included Jimmy Rivera, Martin Santos, Pedro Acero, Lorenzo Soto, Millie Gordon, and Adolfo Irrizary.
Jorge Rivera was unable to participate in the event due to health issues. We hope he recovers soon and can continue participating in the activities of the club. The event was organized by the Domino Committee. This year, the committee is made up of Herman Santa and Jorge Rivera to raise funds for the “Spanish American Club Scholarship Funds.” Thanks to all the contestants, as it was a joyful and pleasant time.


Anniversary 2004
12th Anniversary of SACI with D.J. Horacio Figueroa “Latin Mobil D.J.’s” at the Don Ramón restaurant in Stuart

The 12th anniversary of the “Spanish American Club, Inc.” was successfully celebrated at the Don Ramón restaurant in Stuart. On August 28th, the grand gala took place, where attendees had the opportunity to share and enjoy socially. At 7:00 PM, the party began with a cocktail, and then at 8:00 PM, the members and guests savored a delicious buffet prepared by the owner of the establishment, Hugo Figueroa.
The dance began immediately after dinner with Horacio Figueroa and his “Latin Mobil D.J.’s,” who with their infectious disco rhythm and psychedelic lights got everyone dancing until midnight. Overall, the social event was a total success from the buffet to the D.J.’s music. Thanks to the directors and the club members who assisted us with ticket sales.



Get Together 2005 (Peterson)
Get together with Disc Music at the residence of Dana and Maite Peterson in Palm City

Since Dana and Maite Peterson’s family joined the “Spanish American Club, Inc.” in 1997, they have been making a paella for the members at their humble residence in Palm City. On Saturday, February 19, Dana and Maite prepared yet again an exquisite Valencian paella with the joy, humor, and cheekiness that characterize them. The “Paella Party” began at 7:00 p.m., as always, with a cocktail, followed by dinner and desserts.
At 10:00 PM, the artistic “Show” began with the talented and jovial bohemian music singer Xavier Alejandro from Ecuador. Xavier performed several melodies from the past that encouraged members and guests to applaud and dance. Then, Xavier continued with his English songs by Frank Sinatra and other ballad singers. What a party! The members and guests had a great time among drinks, snacks, music, and good friends in a healthy environment. Thanks to Dana, Maite, and Xavier for an unforgettable night. Parties like these keep the club moving forward.



Anniversary 2009
18th Anniversary of SACI with with D. J. Herman Santa at the Park Edge Clubhouse

On Saturday, June 22, 2009, the members of the Spanish American club, Inc. (SACI) were invited by Bobby and Lily Rodriguez for the monthly Get Together and celebrate the club’s 18th Anniversary at the Park Edge Clubhouse Park Edge Clubhouse. It was a wonderful party with a buffet, music and dancing until late at night and of course, with raffles and door prizes.
The idea of gathering members once a month has become a tradition at the Spanish American club Inc (SACI). The welcome cocktail and the famous buffet composed by authentic ethnic food is now a part of the monthly Get Together.



Picnic 2005
Annual picnic Langford Park Clubhouse

On Monday, July 4th, the members of the Spanish American Club, Inc. celebrated “Father’s Day” and “July 4th” at Langford Park in Jensen Beach. The picnic is held every year in a park, but this year it took place at the Mike Bocchino Club House. The event was a success, as we enjoyed a good barbecue, desserts, music, and great camaraderie. While some played dominoes, others danced. The children had fun with the “Line Dances.” During a break, the club president, Dr. Enrique Ospina, addressed the audience, welcomed everyone, and announced the upcoming activities.
Rae Ann Ospina won the 50/50. The proceeds from the raffle will go to the “Spanish American Club, Inc. Scholarship Fund.” Thanks to Maite Peterson and Glady Piñeiro for helping to raise the funds. The committee for this event included Enrique and Rae Ann Ospina, Rico and Casta Arnell, Nidia Barraza, and myself, who were responsible for planning the activity. Thanks to Luis Nieves for helping me with the music. We cannot forget Rene, Lila, and Kristal Cifuentes, who assisted us with the barbecue and decoration.



Independence 2005
“Get Together” at the beach “Nettle Island Club House”

Summer has arrived along with outdoor parties, barbecues, and splashes in the pools. The heat and humidity are starting to rise, signaling that summer is truly here. These are the best days to enjoy the beach. This is exactly what the members of the “Spanish American Club, Inc.” (SACI) did on Saturday, July 23, to celebrate the monthly “Get Together” at the “Club House” of one of the members on Hutchison Island. From the early hours of the evening, Tony Sauco, the homeowner, and his aunt Raquel Medina welcomed the members, as well as family, friends, and guests who gathered at the cabin overlooking the sea on Nettles Island.
El “Get Together”comenzó con un chapuzón, tragos y como siempre con el tradicional buffet y se terminó con un bizcocho (Ocación que se aprovechó para celebrar los cumpleaños de los socios e invitados presentes). Por alli vimos a Dominic Sánchez del programa en español “Nuestra Costa”. Para los que no conocen a Dominic, el presenta sus producciones los viernes a las 12:30 a.m. y los sábados y domingos a las 11 de la mañana por el canal 97 de la compañia de cable Adelfia. Los socios y los invitados disfrutaron de una divertida noche que les quitó el estrés a muchos con los tragos, aperitivos y música. La cena, la piscina, la playa y el ambiente estuvo sabroso. Gracias Tony y Raquel por otra gran fiesta.



Valentine 2005
Annual Valentine with D.J. Horacio Figueroa at the Jensen Beach Women’s Club

The traditional Lovers’ Dance took place on Saturday, February 12th at the Jensen Beach Women’s Club. Amid drinks, dancing, and many couples in love, the large attendance was able to enjoy a night dedicated to romance and a great Latin disco featuring the latest rhythms of the moment. President Enrique Ospina and Vice President Bobby Rodríguez addressed the audience and informed them about the club’s plans for the year two thousand five. Afterwards, the (50/50) raffle was held for the student scholarship.
The winner was Nilda Sanchez. The other winners were: Linda Manzanares (A free ticket to the new nightclub “Mar y Sol”), Pedro Velazquez (A free ticket to the nightclub “Refuge” donated by Horacio Figueroa and his “Latin Mobil D.J.”), Albert Sabina (A haircut at “Jose’s Barbershop”).
The dance, enlivened by D.J. Horacio Figueroa, energized everyone present with his repertoire of Latin music and got everyone dancing to his delicious rhythm. It was a spectacular and unforgettable night. The SACI thanks all the people who attended the dance as it was well planned and successful. Thanks to those who helped us sell tickets and decorate the hall.



Mother’s 2005
Annual Mother’s Day with Disc Jockey Sam Rivera at the “Park’s Edge Clubhouse”

The doors opened at 8 PM, and immediately DJ Sam Rivera, with his excellent music selection, got everyone dancing until midnight. During a break, the “50/50” raffle was held, and the certificates provided by the Board of Directors were drawn. President Dr. Enrique Ospina took the opportunity to welcome everyone, especially the mothers.
The winners were: Daniel Renish (50/50), Rico Arnel (Ticket for the Gala party of the Latin Chamber of Commerce donated by Bobby Rodríguez), and Jennifer Roy (Basket for Mothers donated by Lucy Santa. We thank everyone who attended the dance. We also want to thank Bobby Rodríguez and Lucy Santa for their generous donations.
