Get Together 2004 (Ebner)
Monthly Get Together at the residence of Astrid Ebner in Stuart
By Herman Santa
In a pleasant environment and with friends, the members of the “Spanish American Club, Inc.” celebrated the traditional monthly “Get Together” on Saturday, May 15. The meeting, planned after the “Mother’s Dance” with the necessary enthusiasm to return to the festivities, saw many members responding to the kind invitation of Astrid Ebner in the city of Stuart. The buffet was filled with exquisite dishes such as pasta, meats, and desserts.
After dinner, Astrid played music for us, which many took the opportunity to dance and continue the feast. How wonderful it is to arrive at a home and find a cheerful group of friends, chatting, eating, sipping some wine, and listening to Latin music. Thank you, Astrid, for your generosity and for inviting us to your humble home, as we spent a joyful and fun-filled night.

Mother’s 2004
Annual Mother’s Day with D.J. Sam Rivera at the “Park’s Edge Clubhouse”
Por Herman Santa
Many people were on their feet, and others woke up with tired legs from dancing so much on Saturday, May 8, at the clubhouse of Park’s Edge in Port St. Lucie. An elegant crowd of well-dressed people attended a dance where good taste and great company prevailed, making this event organized by the Board of Directors one filled with surprises, from the beautiful decorations prepared by the decor committee, the guest speakers, and even the trendiest rhythms of the moment.
Among the guests were: Lawyer Gary Sweet, who is running for judge for the “19th Circuit Court” in the upcoming elections, and Dr. Flor Ramos from the “Florida Guard” Association, who also addressed the Hispanic audience to invite them to join their organization to help the community in case of emergencies or disasters. We cannot forget the sponsors who donated to the activity. Bobby Rodríguez from “L&B Latin Production” gifted us two tickets to his next dance on June 5th, and the winner was Nidia Mier. The haircut donated by “Jose’s Hair Styling” was won by Emilia Melendez.
The other winners were: Ray Perez and Nidia Sanchez, who won a free entry to the Hawaiian party. Bobby Rodriguez won the bottle of wine, and Leticia Goff took home the 50/50 raffle. We must thank the executives of the newspaper “La Voz” and those who work at the station “La Gigante 1330 AM” for announcing the event; without them, we wouldn’t have achieved the success we had. We also want to thank “Boston Market,” especially Norma Coón, for providing ice for the party. Finally, we extend our gratitude to the merchants who allowed us to place flyers in their establishments.
But let’s get to the “D.J.” Sam Rivera’s music was impeccable; for over four hours, he played almost non-stop with precision, enthusiasm, and excellence. Thank you, Sam, for helping us and bringing a touch of the Latin atmosphere. To organize an event of this magnitude, where the goal is to have the best music, you must, of course, have a good Board of Directors and the support of the members who sold the tickets. I thank everyone for their hard work. For more than 4 hours, the club members drank, danced, and had fun all night.

This time, the members went out for a party at the luxurious “Night Club Copacabana” in Jensen Beach. The event was held on Saturday, January 31, on the island (also known as Hutchinson Island) to inaugurate the board meeting and to happily kick off the monthly meetings, better known as the “Get Together” of the club’s members.

On Saturday, April 3, another successful monthly “Get Together” of the members of the “Spanish American Club, Inc.” was held. This time, the members’ meeting took place at the “Clubhouse” of the neighborhood where Bobby and Lilly Rodríguez live in the city of Port St. Lucie. The cheerful hosts, Bobby and Lilly, welcomed us with a hug and were happy because it was a great source of satisfaction and pride for them to have us for such a gathering. Bobby took care of the music and Lilly took care of the dinner. Everything started with a cocktail while we enjoyed the appetizers they had prepared, followed by the favorite buffet of gastronomic delights featuring roasted pork, stewed chicken, and even rice with pigeon peas, finishing off with dessert.

Some members of The Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) and their friends like to play golf. The golfers play 18 or 9 holes on Wednesdays after 11:00 A.M. They play from January trough December. They play “Closest to the Pin” on all Par Threes. No dues or handicap is required and you don’t have to be a member of the SACI.
