Picnic 2000
Annual Picnic at the North Jensen Beach Causeway
By Herman Santa
The pleasant breeze and clear sky provided the natural setting for the gathering of members and guests on Sunday, June 18, at the “North Jensen Beach Causeway.” Dozens of members filled the pavilion, where they celebrated “Father’s Day.” From early in the morning, many members and guests attended the event to enjoy the barbecue, savor the delicious Latin food, play dominoes, and go fishing.
Some of the attendees included: Arnaldo and Maria Palenzuela, Willie and Olga Gonzalez, Rey and Yolanda Sanchez, Lic. Victory Ana Swift, Robert and Lily Bentancourt, Rafael and Ana Febus, Dámaso and Josefina Gerena, Kino and Gladys Vélez, Juan and Gladys Piñieiro, Arturo and Elsie Palacios, Sara Lee, Iliana Zequeira, Martha Gonzalez, and Herman Santa. Among the guests were Gustavo Santa, Luis Sanchez, and Hugo and Daida Cadavid. Apologies if someone was left out. Undoubtedly, it was a day filled with rhythm and joy, a delightful experience that the Board of Directors knows how to offer.

Christmas 2007
Christmas atmosphere of SACI at Johnny’s Restaurant
By Herman Santa
Some of the members of the “Spanish American Club, Inc.” gathered on Saturday, December 15, at “Johnny’s Restaurant” to collect Christmas toys for underprivileged children. The restaurant was the perfect place to welcome Christmas in a family-friendly atmosphere filled with friends, drinks, laughter, dancing, and a delicious dinner. The music was provided by “Sabor Latino Entertainment.”
I want to take this moment to thank all the partners who donated toys. Toys were collected for 28 children. Many thanks to Águeda Mejía who coordinated the toy collection this year and will distribute them in Stuart and Indiantown. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Halloween 1998
Halloween Dance with “El Sol Caleno” Orchestra at the Jensen Beach Women’s Club
By Herman Santa
On the night of Saturday, October 31, 1998, more than 150 people attended the Community Center of Port St. Lucie to celebrate “Witches’ Day” with club members and dance to “El Sol Caleno.” It’s not that history repeats itself, but the popular Colombian orchestra from West Palm Beach returned to entertain us with their Caleño rhythm. This orchestra, made up of the Zamorano brothers’ vocals, is reinforced by a delightful musical accompaniment. The sound of the drums, congas, winds, brass, and percussion stands out for its excellent blending, immediately recognizable as the popular Caleña orchestra.
The “Son Caleño” Orchestra has the necessary tribute to become a favorite among people of all ages. Colombian singers Ricardo, Carlos, and Roberto Zamorano perform simple, modern, and romantic songs. Few remained seated upon hearing the rhythm of this orchestra of talented musicians. The merengue and cumbia played by these young people are irresistible and invite you to keep dancing for a good while, so we had a lot of fun at the club’s “Halloween Party.”
