Christmas 1998
“Christmas Party” and “Christmas Toys Drive” at the residence of the Santas

On Saturday, December 18th, the members of the “Spanish American Club, Inc.” celebrated their annual Christmas party at the residence of Herman and Lucy Santa in the city of Jensen Beach.
After the appetizers and cocktails, the Christmas toys were collected to be donated in Indiantown and Ft. Pierce by Willie González. Then dinner was served, and afterwards, dancing continued until dawn. The next activity is planned for December 31st at Jaycee Park in the city of Port St. Lucie.



Cruise 2002 (Texas Treasure Casino)
Successful Cruise of the “Spanish American Club, Inc.”

With great joy, dancing, shows, breakfast, and lunch, the traditional annual cruise of the “Spanish American Club, Inc.” was successfully held on Sunday, April 16, at the “Texas Treasure Casino.”
More than 60 people had lunch, danced, gambled at the casinos, and enjoyed the shows. The trip started at 8:30 in the morning in the parking lot of the “Albertson” supermarket in Port Lucie. We boarded the bus that the club rented from “Around the Clock” to leave from the Palm Beach port. The social event was organized by Gladys Piñeiro, noted for its order and punctuality. She deserves congratulations for another well-planned boat trip.



Halloween 2002
Halloween Dance with Horacio Figueroa and his “Mobil D.J.’s. at the DAV

On Saturday, October 27, the members of the “Spanish American Club, Inc.” celebrated the “Masquerade Ball” in the ballroom of the Disabled American Club (DAV) in the city of Port St. Lucie. The party was enlivened by Show Time DJ, starting at 8:30 PM and ending at 12:30 AM as scheduled. The event was well planned by the Board of Directors, which included President Gladys Piñeiro, Vice President Ana Swift, Treasurer Ron Bryson, Secretary Lucy Santa, and Member Maria Arcuate.
Everyone enjoyed the night with their family and friends with the best DJ of the moment, Horacio Figueroa and his “Mobil D.J.’s.” The next activity is scheduled for December 28 at the Don Ramon restaurant to celebrate the annual Christmas party.



Father’s 2011
Annual Father’s Day with D. J. Adan Mendoza at the Spanish lakes Clubhouse in Ft. Pierce

On Saturday, June 25, the Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) held its Annual Father’s Day Party at a private clubhouse in Ft. Pierce. Over 40 guests attended the event. Attendees were treated to a delicious latin buffet prepared by the members of the club. D. J. Adan Mendoza from Mendoza Sound entertained the guests. Among the guests were: Vivi Bercey and her sister Andrea Moreira, Marco and Linda Herrera, Anthony and Mindy Rozon.
After the dinner, master of ceremony Karen Diamond called up the names of the members that were present to celebrate their birthdays. Among the members present were Isa Bryson, Cecilia Pulido, Lucy Santa, Herman Santa, Alicia Abbate and Gladys Vélez. They were asked to stand near the birthday cake while the D.J. played a “Happy Birthday” song for them.
Followed the birthday celebration, the directors held the raffle for the 50/50, door prizes and the hat dance contest. Isa Bryson was the lucky winner of the 50/50. Door prize winners were: Virginia Feliciano, Al Feliciano, Dick Diamond, Joan Costa and Audrey Heltzer. Virginia Feliciano won the hot dance contest.
Special thanks go to the decoration and set ups committees, and the board of directors who donated the door prizes and helped to make the event a success. And finally, thanks to the generosity of the attendees who bought raffle tickets for the event.

Get Together 1999 (Palenzuela)
Get Together with Disc Music at the residence of Arnaldo and María Palenzuela in Port St. Lucie

On November 19th, the members of the Hispano American Club held their monthly meeting at the residence of the Palenzuela family in Port St. Lucie. After the Board of Directors’ meeting, Arnaldo and María Palenzuela provided us with a delicious buffet to celebrate the occasion. The next meeting will be on December 14th at the “Havana Biltmore” restaurant in the city of Stuart to celebrate the Christmas party and collect toys for underprivileged children.

On Saturday, April 20th, the members of the “Spanish American Club, Inc.” held an “Open House” at the residence of Herman and Lucy Santa in Jensen Beach. After dinner, we sang happy birthday to those celebrating their birthdays in April. The members who had birthdays were María Finnerty, Herman Santa, Lucy Santa, Cecilia Vignier, and Zoraida Echevarría. We had a wonderful night sharing with members, family, and friends.
The next activity is scheduled for May 5 to celebrate the “Scholarship Night Dance” at the Port St. Lucie Community Center. The event will feature “Due Riviera” from Port St. Lucie, alternating with the club’s DJ’s (Juan Carlos Gayos, Herman Santa, and César Bohórquez).

Fiesta navideña y recolección de juguetes en el restaurante Havana Biltmore

On Saturday, December 14, the members gathered at the “Havana Biltmore” restaurant in Stuart to celebrate Christmas and collect Christmas toys. The members and guests enjoyed a festive dinner and a lot of camaraderie. More than 30 members donated new gifts in Christmas bags for the underprivileged children in the area. The toy collection committee is composed of Herman Santa and Willie González. Herman and Willie will take the gifts to the cities of Indiantown and Ft. Pierce.

Get Together at the residence of Tom and Kathy González in White City

The Spanish American Club held its monthly “Get Together” on Saturday, September 20, at the home of Tom and Kathy González in the city of White City. Tom and Kathy, as always so kind and loving, welcomed us with hugs, cocktails, and snacks. After the drinks, they had dinner prepared by some of their friends. Then they played dance music, and we enjoyed a joyful and fun night. Thank you, Tom and Kathy, for that wonderful “Open House.”



Scholarship 2011 (Velázquez)
23rd scholarship from the “Spanish American Club, Inc.”

The Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) awarded a scholarship to a local Hispanic student. The recipient of the scholarship is Nancy Velásquez who was born in Guatemala and lives in Indiantown. Nancy is a student at South Fork High School. She will attend Indian River State College to become a Nurse.
The student was selected as a winner for the year 2011 from more that 16 students who applied for the scholarship of the club. The award is presented each year by the club and is based on grades, academic accomplishments and economic needs. This year scholarship committee chair is Herman Santa, co chair with Isa Bryson and Nancy Rozon selected the students for their achievements, trustworthiness, character, responsibility, fairness, caring and academics.
The student was asked to write an essay in Spanish and submit letters of recommendation. She was interviewed by the committee and was asked several questions concerning her goals and objectives and why she deserved the scholarship. The student has been awarded $500 scholarships. The (SACI) is a non profit organization. The club was founded in 1992 by 9 Hispanics families from Martin and St. Lucie Counties to promote the Hispanic heritage and to unite the Hispanics on the Treasure Coast.
The SACI scholarship was established in 1992 for low income students. Over 25 High School seniors from Martin and St. Lucie had benefited from the scholarships. Over $13,000 has been awarded to local students. The members organize monthly events, golf, bowling and dominoes tournaments, picnics and boat trips to raise funds for the scholarship and to run the club.

On Saturday, December 31st, the “Spanish American Club, Inc.” celebrated its “New Year’s Eve Dance” at the YMCA clubhouse in Port St. Lucie. The venue was elegantly decorated for the occasion by the club’s committee. The president, Yolanda Sanchez, warmly welcomed the members and guests. The tables were filled with noisemakers, hats, maracas, crowns, and other items to celebrate the New Year. Before midnight, we delighted our taste buds with the appetizers brought by the members to celebrate the departure of the Old Year. The dance was entertained by the “Duo Riviera” from Port St. Lucie.
