By Herman Santa

Aloha! Tropical music, leis and a luau was what members and their guests of the Spanish American Club, Inc.  encountered at the Annual Luau Party on Saturday, August 20th, 2011, at a private clubhouse in Ft.  Pierce.  Approximately 60 members and their guests took part in the event.   The clubhouse was transformed into a tropical paradise.  They feasted on a latin buffet prepared by the members, socialized and packed the dance floor to get down to the sweet sound of “Mendoza Sound”.

Among the guests were: Juan Carlos and Odette Gayoso and Vivi Bercey.  After the dinner, master of ceremony Karen Diamond called up the names of the members and guests that were present to celebrate their birthdays.  Among them were: Angenol Pellot, Ron Bryson, Lionel Román, Linda Manzanares and three unidentified guests.  They were asked to stand near the birthday cake while the D.J. played a “Happy Birthday” song for them.  Followed the birthday celebration, the board held the raffles for the grand prize, 50/50 and door prizes.  The grand prize winner ($500) was Mary Figliola.  Mario Franceschi and Eddie Heltzer ($45 each) were the lucky winners of the 50/50.

Door prize winners were Virginia Feliciano, Nereida Pellot, Reinaldo Matias and 4 other unidentified guests.  The hat dance contest winner was Nereida Pellot.  Special thanks go to the decoration and set ups committees, and the board of directors who donated the door prizes and helped to make the event a success. And finally, thanks to the generosity of the attendees who bought raffle tickets for the event.
