Annual Winter Dance D.J. José Ramírez at DAV

On Saturday, January 30, members and supporters of the Spanish American Club, Inc. gathered to celebrate the 1st dance of the year of the club at the Disabled American Veteran Club in Port St. Lucie.

This beautiful affair was chaired by the recently elected new board composed by president Carlos Bonet, President; Nancy Rozon, Vice President; Al Feliciano, Secretary; Ruben Aleman, Treasurer; Ray Guadalupe, Public Relations; Luis Carrillo, Director and Melissa Sanchez, Substitute.

During a break, D. J. José Ramírez played a birthday song to celebrated the January birthdays and then the door prizes and 50/50 raffles to top off the event.

Throughout the year, the members meet once a month to socialize, dine and dance.  The non-profit organization’s mission is to preserve the Hispanic heritage on the Treasure Coast and to unionize Hispanics from the Treasure Coast. The group also gives 2 scholarships of $1, 000 each to local High School Hispanic students from Martin and St. Lucie counties. In November the members give food baskets in Thanksgiving for low income families and in December the members collect Christmas toys for needy children.

Annual Winter Dance D.J. José Ramírez at DAV

The Spanish American Club, Inc. celebrates Black/White Dance on January 10, 2015, at the Disabled American Veterans Club in Port St. Lucie.

After the General Assembly meeting, the members enjoyed a variety of delicious sandwiches, raffles, birthdays celebration and music.  Door prize winners were: Karen Diamond, Ivan Guanill and Nereida Pellot. 50/50 winners were: Roberta Linares and Zaira Toro.

Members present celebrating their birthday were: Xiomara Guanill, Nereida Pellot, Felix Asencio, Dan Depagnier, Evergilio Cardona and Ray Matias. The event ended with dancing music with D.J. José Ramírez who entertained us until late in the evening.

Many thanks to the members who donated the door prizes and those members who helped with the decoration, the set -ups and planned the event. The new board extends its thanks to generous members and their guests who bought tickets for the 50/50 drawing.

The Spanish American Club, Inc. is a not-for-profit social, civic and sport organization comprised of members in Martin and St. Lucie counties who are dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the Hispanic heritage on the Treasure Coast.

The Spanish American Club, Inc. elect’s new board

The members of The Spanish American Club, Inc. elected a new board for the fiscal year 2016. The annual general assembly meeting was held on January 9, 2016, at the Disabled American Veterans Club in Port St. Lucie.

Much of The Spanish American Club, Inc.’s success derives from strong volunteer leadership. For more than 24 years, The Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) has relied on the guidance and expertise of community leaders to make a positive impact in Martin and St. Lucie Counties through fundraising, volunteerism and character-building.

Each year, in January the members elect new officers to help set organizational goals and to ensure that funds raised through the annual campaign are being invested wisely in the club’s strategic priority areas such as scholarships for low-income Hispanic students, donations of food baskets in Thanksgiving for needed families and collection of Christmas toys for disadvantaged families.

At the meeting, the members of the club elected Carlos Bonet, President; Nancy Rozon, Vice President; Al Feliciano, Secretary; Ruben Aleman, Treasurer; Ray Guadalupe, Public Relations; Luis Carrillo, Director and Melissa Sanchez, Substitute.

During the annual meeting, Ron Bryson was warmly thanked for serving as Treasurer of the corporation from 2013 to 2015. Tony Colón (Public Relations) and Fe Vall de Ruten (Director) were also honored for their years of service during the same period.

SACI is the area’s oldest non-profit social Hispanic organization, established in 1992. The main goals of the corporation are to promote friendship and solidarity among its members and other non-profit corporations, through social, cultural and civic activities and to promote the knowledge of the Spanish-speaking countries’ geography, history, art, culture and folklore.

Bowling Tournament to benefit scholarship

Members of the Spanish American Club, Inc. and their friends will celebrate a Bowling Tournament this year at the St Lucie Lanes, Port St. Lucie to raise funds for the scholarship of the club.

The event will schedule for the Fall on a Monday night (Date, time and fee not available yet).   It will be a night of strikes, splits and sleepers for the first place for male and female. Can you be a team player and willing to practice once a week or once in a while?  If you are a member of the Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) and answer yes to these questions, I would like to hear from you!

We practice once a week on Mondays at the St. Lucie Lanes, Port St. Lucie. We start at 6:00 until 9:00 P.M., which will give us enough time to play three games for $850 and 10 minutes practice before the games. The practices are voluntarily.   If you like bowling and would like to make new friends, come and join us and have fun with us. We are a fun group!

The Spanish American Club, Inc. hosts Christmas Party at Sons of Italy

The Spanish American club, Inc. hosted its annual Dinner Christmas Party at the Sons of Italy Lodge 2594 in Port St. Lucie. It was an exciting evening where many members with their families came together to enjoy the “End of the Year Dinner Dance Gala”. The party started with a cocktail then the master of ceremonies and president of the club, Carlos Bonet, welcomed everyone and had all the birthday members of the month of December come up front while D.J. José Ramirez played the “Happy Birthday” song for them.

Fallowing the birthday celebration the members and their guests enjoyed a delicious buffet catered by Mandi’s Café and Catering. The meal consisted of chicken marsala, beef burgundy with wild rice, green beans, greens salad with bread and butter, dessert and coffee.  During a break the board held the drawings for the door prizes and the 50/50.

Event coordinators were our president Carlos Bonet and his board members Tony Colón, Ron Bryson, Al Feliciano, Melissa Bonet, Fe Vall de Ruten and Nancy Rozon who did a wonderful job planning a memorable evening that was enjoyed by all.
