By Herman Santa

On Feb. 27, The Spanish American Club, Inc. “SACI” celebrates Valentine at the Disabled American Veterans “DAV” hall in Port St. Lucie.  The event started at 7:00 P.M. with guest speakers John Romano  CEO, and Pat Austin, Vice chair of New Horizons of The Treasure Coast and Okeechobee. The purpose of their presentation was to help the Hispanic population of the Treasure Coast learn about services available to them and their family members in the area of mental health and substance abuse.

During a break, an appreciation recognition was presented to Nancy Rozon for her generous support to the club. After the presentation to Nancy, D. J. José Ramírez played a birthday song to celebrate the February birthdays. There were door prizes and 50/50 raffles to top off the event. 50/50 winners were: Elizabeth Bonet and José Mejia. Flower arrangement winner was Hector Gil. Door prize winners were Nora Domenech, Karen Diamond, Cecilia Pulido, Millie Asencio and Xiomara Guanill.

SACI, a nonprofit membership organization from Martin and St. Lucie counties. SACI is the oldest social, civic, benevolence and sport organization on the Treasure Coast. The mission of the club is to promote friendship and solidarity among its members, neighbors and other nonprofit institutions of the Treasure Coast through cultural, social and civic activities and to promote the knowledge of the Spanish speaking countries, their geography, history, art and folklore.

Members and their guests enjoyed an evening of good camaraderie, snacks and of course, dancing with the rhythm of D.J. José Ramírez’s sound. Many thanks to the board for planning and those members that helped with the decoration and the set ups.
