Annual Mother’s Day Day Dance with D.J. José Ramírez at “DAV”

By Herman Santa

The Annual Mother’s Day Party hosted by The Spanish American Club, Inc. was celebrated on Saturday, May 27 at the Disabled American Veterans Club in Port St. Lucie.

Before the dinner, master of ceremonies our president Ruben Aleman and public relations director, Ray Guadalupe updated the members about the next events and thanked every one of them for their continued support. Ivan Guanill announced a Billiard Pool Tournament this summer. Al Feliciano distributed a flyer for our Western Caribbean 11-night cruise on the fabulous Norwegian Jade sailing December 7, 2017. The members and their guests enjoyed a delicious buffet catered by Santo’s Pizzeria. The meal consisted of salad, bread, chicken parmesan, sausage with peppers, mixed veggies, dessert and coffee.

After the dinner, the board conducted the raffles and celebrated the member’s birthdays of the month of April and May. Entertainer D.J. José Ramírez played a Happy Birthday song for them. The Highlight of the night was Ray Matias who danced a Zorbas dance Uta McFaden before every one came to the dance floor.

A big thank to our board of directors, decoration and the set ups committees. And finally, many thanks go to the members and their guests who bought tickets for the scholarship raffles.  The Spanish American Club, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization comprised of members in Martin and St. Lucie who are dedicated to the promotion and preserve of the Hispanic heritage on the Treasure Coast.

The club has become quite influential in the Treasure Coast area, playing a key role, for instance, in the scholarship program for Hispanic students.  Over the past 25 years, the club has awarded more than $28,000 in scholarships to the Hispanic seniors of Martin and St. Lucie counties.
