27th Anniversary of SACI with D.J. José Ramírez at DAV

By Herman Santa

On Saturday, September 28 The Spanish American Club, Inc. celebrated its 27th Anniversary at the Disabled American Veterans Club in Port St. Lucie. Attendees enjoyed a night full of fun, an exquisite buffet, raffles, door prizes, birthday celebration and dancing throughout the evening.

Master of ceremonies and president of the club, Carlos Bonet, welcomed everyone to the event and thanked them for their continued support.  Carlos made a short speech honoring past directors of the club that where present, among them, Dr, Enrique Ospina, Maite Peterson, Ray Guadalupe, Lucy Santa, Herman Santa, Fe Valderuten, Carlos Mejía, Lionel Román, Melissa Bonet-Sanchez and Tony Colón.  If I missed any one, please forgive me.

Just before the dinner, as always, a minute of silence was observed for those members that have passed away.  During a break, the board conducted the raffles for the door prizes and 50/50 and celebrated the member’s birthdays of the month of September, while entertainer D.J. José Ramírez played a Happy Birthday song for them.

The 27th Anniversary Dinner Dance marked another milestone of the existence of our club.  A big thanks to Carlos Bonet and his board of directors–Vivian Megaro, Public Relations Director; Al Feliciano, Vice President; Evelyn Carrillo, Secretary; Josephine Guadalupe, Treasurer; Nancy Rozon, (Vocal) Director; and Mary Figliola, Substitute Director who dedicate their talent, knowledge and time every month to help and promote fellowship among the Hispanic groups on the Treasure Coast

A special thank you to all the members and their guests who attended and bought tickets for the raffles.  Proceeds will benefit the club’s scholarship program.

Founded in 1992, The Spanish American Club, Inc. is the oldest charitable, social, civic, cultural and sport organization in the Treasure Coast. With nearly 150 active members from various Latin American countries including Spain and United States, the club fosters positive relations between Americans and other Spanish speaking people from Martin and St. Lucie counties.

Luau with D.J. José Ramírez at DAV

By Herman Santa

The Annual Luau party hosted by The Spanish American Club, Inc. was celebrated on Saturday, August 31st. Club members took time from the stress of the upcoming hurricane Dorian and disaster preparations to dance and celebrate friendship.  It was an evening of raffles, door prizes, music, leis and of course, dancing. DJ José Ramírez provided the entertainment. Especially playing a song to defy Hurricane Dorian with the lyrics ” todo malo echa palla” (all bad things go away).

Master of ceremonies and president of the club, Carlos Bonet, welcomed everyone to the party and gave an update of the status of the club and thanked every one of them for their continued support.  Following the president’s update, the board conducted the raffles and celebrated the birthdays of the month of September, while entertainer D.J. José Ramírez played a Happy Birthday song for them.

A big thank you to our board members who coordinated the event. A special thank you to all the members and their guests who attended and bought tickets for the raffles.  Proceeds will benefit the club’s scholarship program.
