Scholarship 2020 (Natalie Becerra)

57th scholarship from the “Spanish American Club, Inc.”

Natalie Becerra was born in Miami, Florida.  Her parents are Melly Diaz and Jairo Becerra from Bogota, Cundinamarca, Colombia.  She is now living with her mother in Port St. Lucie.  Natalie attended Centennial High School. This fall she will continue her higher education in Nursing Program at Indian River State College.  She plans to become a Certified Nurse Midwife and travel as a Nurse.

This year scholarship committee Chair by Nancy Rozon and Co-chair by Pamela Peña  Elizabeth Mejía and Herman Santa along with the board of directors Carlos Bonet, President; Al Feliciano, Vice President; Evelyn Carrillo, Secretary; Josephine Guadalupe, Treasurer; Vivian Megaro, Public Relations: Nancy Rozon, Director; Mary Figliola, Substitute Director did a magnificent job selecting the students and  running the program smoothly. The committee selected the students for their achievements, trustworthiness, character, responsibility, fairness and academics.

The scholarship was established in 1992 for low-income students. Over the past 26 years, the club has awarded more than $35,000 in scholarships to 60 High School seniors of Martin and St. Lucie counties. The board raises money for the scholarships by having garage sales, 50/50 raffles at the monthly dance parties and committee events.  The board also organizes other events such as picnics, cruises and garage sales. The committees organize events such as bowling, golf, billiard and dominoes tournaments.

The mission of the club is to promote friendship and solidarity among its members, neighbors and other non-profit organizations of the Treasure Coast through cultural, social, civic, charity and sports activities to promote knowledge of the Spanish speaking countries, their geography, history, art and folklore.

Scholarship 2020 (Daniela Granados)

53rd scholarship from the “Spanish American Club, Inc.”

The Spanish American Club, Inc. is proud to recognize one outstanding student selected to receive one of the six club’s 2020 scholarship awards. The recipient is Daniela Granados of Ft. Pierce.

Daniela was born in Quetarato, Huimilpan, Mexico.  Her parents are Francisco Granados and Elvira Frias also were born in Queretaro, Huimilpan Mexico.  Daniela attended Ft. Peirce Central High School, Florida and will be attending Stanford University where she will be pursuing a degree in Neuroscience in hopes of becoming a neurosurgeon.

55th scholarship from the “Spanish American Club, Inc.”

The Spanish American Club, Inc. is proud to recognize one outstanding student selected to receive one of the six club’s 2020 scholarship awards. The recipient is Laura Barco-Garcia of Port St. Lucie.

Laura was born in Stuart, Florida.  Her parents are Ricardo Garcia and Maria Barco they were born in Mexico.  She is now living with them in Port St. Lucie. She attended Lincoln Park Academy and this fall she will attend University of Central Florida.  she will be majoring in Nursing and after graduating she is planning to return to the Treasure Coast to start her Nursing career.

29th Anniversary of SACI

Father’s Day Dance 2023

The Spanish American Club, Inc. held their annual Father’s Day Dinner Dance Saturday, June 24th at the Disabled American Veterans Club in Port St. Lucie.  The event started with our president and master of ceremonies Carlos Bonet welcoming everyone to the event and gave an update of the status of the club and the next events of the of club. Following the president’s speech, the members and their guests enjoyed a night of camaraderie, food, drinks, and dancing. During the break, the DJ played a Happy Birthday song for members and their guests who were present celebrating their birthdays in the months of June.
