The Spanish American Club, Inc. recognized an outstanding member during 1999 for their efforts and performance during the year, for their integrity, as well as the service, talent and time they gave to the Club. A plaque of recognition was awarded to outgoing vice-president Willie Gonzalez by the club’s new president Yolanda Sanchez. The award ceremony was held at the Howard Johnson Hotel in the city of Stuart after the Annual Meeting.

The Spanish American Club, Inc. recognized two outstanding members during 1999 for their efforts and performance during the year, for their integrity, as well as the service, talent and time they gave to the Club. A plaque of recognition was awarded to outgoing president Arnaldo Palenzuela and vice-president Willie Gonzalez by the club’s new president Yolanda Sanchez. The award ceremony was held at the Howard Johnson Hotel in the city of Stuart after the Annual Meeting.

Spanish American Club elects new president

On Saturday January 22, 2011, the members of the Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) celebrated their 19th Annual General Assembly at the Disabled American Veterans Club in Port St. Lucie to elect a new board of directors. The meeting was called to order by the president Jimmy Rivera. Al Feliciano was the Master of Ceremony and conducted the general assembly and announced the candidates, revision of the bylaws and other issues to be resolved. The amendments of the bylaws were approved and Mary Figliola, was elected president of the club for the fiscal year 2011. The other elected directors were Kathy Rivera; vice-president, Nancy Rozon; secretary, Nora Candelario; treasurer and Karen Diamond; director.
Three of the past presidents were in attendance for the passing of the gavel. Herman Santa (1995, 2001, 2004 and 2007), passed the gavel to Gladys Piñeiro (2002), then it was passed to outgoing president Jimmy Rivera (2009, 2010) and finally to 2011 President Mary Figliola. The meeting ended with the awards ceremony when last year’s president Rivera presented recognition to his directors for their service and contribution and dedication to the club. Picture plaques were presented to Al Feliciano, Nancy Rozon, Ron Bryson and Mary Figliola.

About The Spanish American Club Community OUTREACH
The Spanish American Club Community OUTREACH has charitable scholarship funds for qualified students. One scholarship is awarded in the amount of One Thousand dollars ($1,000) and variable amounts to as many students as our fund raising allows.
Scholarships are for fourth year high school students in the Martin and St Lucie Counties Public High Schools. The student must be of Hispanic heritage, show financial need, attending college and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Scholarship Award 2025
The Spanish American Club Community OUTREACH, (SACCO) awarded 3 scholarships to Hispanic students in St. Lucie and Martin County.
On April 23, 2025, Pamela Peña and Nancy Rozon attended the 2025 Scholarship Presentation Ceremony at the Jensen Beach High School. They presented a $1,000 scholarship to Aryannah Sanchez. Nancy will be attending Lincoln Park Academy on May 8th to present a $1,000 scholarship to Daniella Fernandez. And Fort Pierce Central on May 14 to award Sandra Duran Cruz her scholarship of $1,500. Three scholarships were awarded this year. Thanks to all our members for their donations and making a difference is our young Latino adults future.
Pamela Peña reported that all the following students were happy to receive the SACI Scholarship monies.

Let’s Play Golf!

Some members of The Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) and their friends like to play golf. The golfers play 18 or 9 holes on Wednesdays. They play from January trough December (Winter after 12 P.M. and Summer after 9 A.M.) at The Saints in Port St. St. Lucie. Some of the players are: Herman Santa, Gus Migliore, Luis Rosa, Ralph Harrison, Bernie Jethroe, Roberto Belardo, Gil Hulting, Neftalí Rivera, Jorge Pérez, Frenchy Perez, Fernando Mejía, Rubén Alemán, Pete Marrero, Gus Migliore, Al Peña, Frank Timen, Luie Arroyo, Carlos Bonet, Ray Guadalupe, Eric Frank, Robert Osborne, Eddy Faivre, Carl Atkins, Marco Flores, Norman Sepulveda, José Garcia, David Santiago and Norman Robinson
They are participating on the try outs since the group was formed over 22 years ago. Some play “Closest to the Pin” on all Par Threes and others play the point system (Birdie 3 points, Par 2 points and a Bogie, 1 point).
