Picnic 2014
Annual Picnic at the Jensen Beach Park

Members, families and friends of Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) attended the annual family picnic on Saturday, April 26 at the Jensen Beach Park on Hutchinson Island. Every one enjoyed the barbecue, music, games such as dominoes, volleyball, horse shoes to mention a few. After the cook out, the members and their guests celebrated José Santiago, Ernie Monroe, Carlos Bonet and Herman Santa with a big birthday cake. Thanks to the SACI board of directors, the picnic committee and other volunteers that made the picnic a great success.

Cruise 2014 (Celebration Cruise Lines)
Spanish American Club members celebrated on board the “Celebration Cruise Lines”

Members and friends of the Spanish American Club, Inc. went on a two-day Cruise to the Bahamas on board the Celebration Cruise Lines. The trip was organized by our president Carlos Bonet. The trip started at 8 a.m. from Port St. Lucie Friday, April 11 from Port of Palm Beach returned Sunday, April 13 after 6 p.m. Everyone enjoyed the cruise, the buffet and the music.



Mardi Gras 2014

The Annual Mardi Gras Party hosted by The Spanish American Club, Inc. was celebrated on Saturday, March. 29 at the Disabled American Veterans Club in Port St. Lucie. More than 100 members and their guests enjoyed an evening of costumes, snacks, dancing, and of course, the beads. Carlos Bonet, president of the club updated the members about the next events and thanked every one of them for their continued support.
After the birthday celebration and raffles drawing, everyone enjoyed the entertainment of DJ José Ramírez with his repertoire of songs he sang and played. Big thanks go to the members and their guests who bought tickets for the raffles. And finally, many thanks to the members who helped with the decorations.

Billiard 2014 (Tournament)
Spanish American Club hosts Billiard Tournament

The Spanish American Club, Inc. Billiard Tournament was hosted Saturday, March 15, at the St. Lucie Lanes in Port St. Lucie. Club member Ivan Guanill coordinated the event. The event produced enthusiastic participation by local Hispanic billiard players. The billiard tournament features a ration of 12 players in a round single’s play. The entry fee was $5 per player and players were selected by lottery. All players played at least one game for the classification. The players that lost two games were declared out of the competition.
Winners: Angel Pellot (6-0), 2nd Place: Carlos Bonet (5-1) and 3rd Place Billy Betancourt (3-2). Other players that participated were: Jimmy Rivera, Joe Castro, Herman Santa, Al Feliciano, Tony Canales, Rubén Alemán, Melanie Polanco, Javier Crespo and Tony Colón.



Bowling 2006
SACI is ready for its 3rd Annual Bowling Tournament

The Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) is counting with the participation of at least 20 of its members at their 3rd Annual Bowling Tournament to take place next year. To participate there will be a registration fee (approx. $20 per person). This fee includes 4 games per person but the bowling shoes renta1 fee is no included. The event is organized by the Bowling Committee of the club. The purpose is to develop new yearly activities for SACI members and to raise money to benefit the club’s scholarship fund. SACI’s Bowling Committee will be in charge of the match. To participate, one must register prior of the event.

Integrantes del Torneo de Golf 2004” se reunieron el viernes 11 de agosto en la residencia de Leticia Goff para entregar los trofeos y para despedir a Rico Arnell quien se va a residir a Ohio. Esa noche, Rico recibió un galardon de los jugadores por su gran esfuerzo y éxitos logrados tanto en las précticas de golf como en el Comité de Golf del “Spanish American Club, Inc.” Esta distición realza el gran cariño y respecto que les tienen los compañeros de golf. Rico ha sido un mentor e instructor de golf para muchos de los jugadores y ayudó a levantar fondos para la beca del club. Gracias a todos los golfista por participar en el torneo. Las ganancias del torneo fueron a la beca del “Spanish American Club, Inc. Scholarship Funds” para un estudiante hispano.

Annual Golf Tournament at The Saints

With a strong participation of over 10 golf enthusiasts, the golf practice season of the “Spanish American Club, Inc.” concluded on Friday, December 27, at the “The Saints” golf course (72 par course) in the city of Port St. Lucie.
Edward “Ed” Seubert from the United States took first place with a total score of 78 (Average scores) and 29 (Average points). In second place was Colombian Gustavo “Gus” Migliore with 88/18. In third place was Mexican Fernando Mejía with an average of 91/17. Fourth place went to Puerto Rican Neftali “Nefty” Rivera with an average of 90/17, and in fifth place was yours truly with 93/14. Also participating were Roberto Belardo (P.R.) with 95/12, Luis Rosa (P.R.) with 96/12, Gil Hulting (USA) with 96/12, Nick Arnell (St. Martin) with 97/08, Rubén Alemán (P.R) with 98/06, Carlos Bonet (P.R.) with 99/04, and Jorge “Papito” Pérez with 100/02.
Other players who participated in the season last year included the following: Ruben Sánchez (P.R.), Tony Colón (P.R.), Manny Carcel (P.R.), Jaime Rojas (Colombia), Pete Marrero (P.R.), Mike Pérez (D.R.), Bernie Jethroe (USA), and Ralph Morrison (Barbados). Every Wednesday after 12 PM (winter) or 11 AM (summer), they participate in the “Try Outs” since the group was formed over 20 years ago. Some bet on the Par 3 holes (Greenies and Sandies) and others on the total points (1 for a Bogey, 2 for Par, and 3 for Birdie) for each hole. The group’s hope is to unite Hispanic golfers and hold a golf tournament at the end of the season to raise funds for the scholarship offered by the club to Hispanic students from low-income areas. Thanks to the support of golfer friends who always show up when needed!

Golf 1998
The SACI will hold its First Golf Tournament at Savanna Club.

The club will celebrate its “First Annual Golf Tournament” in October 1998 to benefit the student scholarship. The event will take place at the Savanna Club in Port St. Lucie. The tournament, played under the format “Two persons best ball,” will begin at 8:30 A.M. It will be limited to the first 20 golfers who pay the registration fee, which is $25.00. There will be trophies for 1st, 2nd, 3rd (Best Score), “Low Gross,” “Longest Drive,” and “Closest to Pin.” This is the first time the club is hosting a golf tournament. The club is the sponsor of a golf tournament. The tournament is expected to be a great success.

Dominoes 1998 (Tournament)
“Los Playeros”, champions in the residence of the González Family

The “Playeros,” composed of José Encarnación and his son Alex Encarnación from Port St. Lucie, have remained in first place since the start of the practices for the Domino Tournament. “Los Playeros” eliminated “Los Dominantes,” composed of Herman Santa and Willie González, in the best-of-5 playoff series. Last year, in the seven-game championship held at the González Family residence, “Los Playeros” excelled with four victories and qualified for the tournament.
