Christmas atmosphere of SACI at Johnny’s Restaurant
By Herman Santa
Some of the members of the “Spanish American Club, Inc.” gathered on Saturday, December 15, at “Johnny’s Restaurant” to collect Christmas toys for underprivileged children. The restaurant was the perfect place to welcome Christmas in a family-friendly atmosphere filled with friends, drinks, laughter, dancing, and a delicious dinner. The music was provided by “Sabor Latino Entertainment.”
I want to take this moment to thank all the partners who donated toys. Toys were collected for 28 children. Many thanks to Águeda Mejía who coordinated the toy collection this year and will distribute them in Stuart and Indiantown. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Halloween 1998
Halloween Dance with “El Sol Caleno” Orchestra at the Jensen Beach Women’s Club
By Herman Santa
On the night of Saturday, October 31, 1998, more than 150 people attended the Community Center of Port St. Lucie to celebrate “Witches’ Day” with club members and dance to “El Sol Caleno.” It’s not that history repeats itself, but the popular Colombian orchestra from West Palm Beach returned to entertain us with their Caleño rhythm. This orchestra, made up of the Zamorano brothers’ vocals, is reinforced by a delightful musical accompaniment. The sound of the drums, congas, winds, brass, and percussion stands out for its excellent blending, immediately recognizable as the popular Caleña orchestra.
The “Son Caleño” Orchestra has the necessary tribute to become a favorite among people of all ages. Colombian singers Ricardo, Carlos, and Roberto Zamorano perform simple, modern, and romantic songs. Few remained seated upon hearing the rhythm of this orchestra of talented musicians. The merengue and cumbia played by these young people are irresistible and invite you to keep dancing for a good while, so we had a lot of fun at the club’s “Halloween Party.”

On Saturday, May 5th, the monthly meeting of the members was held at Don Eduardo restaurant on Hutchinson Island. How nice it is to arrive at a restaurant and meet a cheerful group of friends to enjoy some drinks, have dinner, and dance. In the small restaurant, but with a good dance floor, some chatted at length while others enjoyed the drinks that Don Eduardo had prepared to celebrate the Mexican fiesta.

Anniversary 2001
9th Anniversary of SACI with D.J. music at Don Eduardo Restaurant in Jensen Beach (Hutchinson Island)
By Herman Santa
The “Spanish American Club, Inc.” (SACI) celebrated its 9th anniversary on June 4th. The dinner-dance was held at Don Eduardo Restaurant in Jensen Beach (Hutchinson Island). Nine years of foundation is enough time to demonstrate a lasting quality service. This is evidenced by the letter of introduction of the “Spanish American Club, Inc.” (SACI) from Port St. Lucie since 1992, when it was signed by Engineer Hector R. Arias.
The witness to the activities is the photos taken at each monthly event in the residences of the members or in social clubs. Many memories remain from each activity. The SACI was the first civic and recreational social club in Port St. Lucie. Thus, for more than 9 years, social parties, domino tournaments, bowling, golf, birthday celebrations, beach outings, and tours have been celebrated with the same joy and enthusiasm that is present today.
On the other hand, it is worth noting that the directors, in their effort to promote programs and organizations that foster the club’s development, remain active in the improvement of our club. To achieve this, monthly meetings are organized, in which almost all members and guests participate. Currently, the Club has a large membership, sufficient to hold a monthly “Get Together.”

Get Together 2000 (Vélez)
Get Together with music at the Kino and Gladys Vélez residence in Port St. Lucie

On Saturday, June 9th, selected for the feast, could not have been better. The 3rd “Get Together” of the year 2000, after we all managed to recover from the numerous club parties, brought us the necessary spirit to return to the revelry.
Thus, the interesting group of friends and acquaintances responded to the kind invitation of Kino and Gladys Vélez at their elegant residence in Port St. Lucie, to kick off the summer with a fabulous open house, where we enjoyed the finest sparkling wine and all kinds of drinks, as well as the most delicious dishes and desserts; for those who were on a diet, that night they broke it.
Neither the heat, which at times brought no breeze, dampened the joy of the members who were on the terrace savoring the delicious buffet. Meanwhile, the hosts, Kino and Gladys Vélez, went above and beyond to attend to their numerous guests, many of whom had the opportunity to meet new members and invitees. We must thank the Vélez family for their generosity and for inviting us to their home, as we had a cheerful and fun evening.

The music was provided by the band “Sabor Latino” from West Palm Beach, who brightened the atmosphere with their Latin flavor until 1 in the morning.
During a break, the winners of the first, second, and third prizes were selected. Thanks to the directors, the sponsors, those who donated the prizes, and everyone who helped plan the best party of the year.

New Year’s 1996

The Spanish American Club, Inc. celebrated the New Year’s Ball on Saturday, December 31, at the Polish American Club halls in Port St. Lucie. The party was entertained by the club’s DJs, Herman Santa and Cesar Bohorquez. The dance started at 9:00 PM and ended at 2:00 AM. The admission was $19.00 per person, which included a bottle of champagne, sandwiches, ice, and soda at each table.
There were streamers, horns, hats, and rattles for everyone. We had a great time with family and friends. Just like last year, the tickets sold out before the day of the party because there were only 100 tickets available to the public, and no tickets were sold at the door.
