Scholarship 2025 (Aryannah Sánchez)
74th scholarship from the “Spanish American Club, Inc.”

The Spanish American Club, Inc. is proud to recognize one outstanding student selected to receive one of the three club’s 2025 scholarship awards. The recipient is Aryannah Sánchez of Port St. Lucie Florida.
Aryannah was awarded $1,000. She was born in Port St. Lucie Florida. Her parents are Talitha and Ernesto Sánchez from Puerto Rico. She will be attending the University of Central Florida. She will be pursuing a degree in Biomedical Science Major Pre-Med and Neuroscience track. Her goal is to become a Pediatric Neurosurgeon. She will also be doing an observer ship in the fall with the surgeons in Orlando, Florida.

The committee selected the students for their achievements, trustworthiness, character, responsibility, fairness, and academics.
The scholarship was established in 1992 for low-income students. Over the past 32 years, the club has awarded more than $51,000 in scholarships to 75 High School seniors of Martin and St. Lucie counties. The board raises money for the scholarships by having garage sales, 50/50 raffles at the monthly dance parties and committee events. The board also organizes other events such as picnics, cruises, and garage sales. The committees organize events such as bowling, golf, billiards, and dominoes tournaments.
The mission of the club is to promote friendship and solidarity among its members, neighbors, and other nonprofit organizations of the Treasure Coast through cultural, social, civic, charity and sports activities to promote knowledge of the Spanish speaking countries, their geography, history, art and folklore.

The Spanish American Club, Inc. is proud to recognize one outstanding student selected to receive one of the six club’s 2020 scholarship awards. The recipient is Itzel Mendoza of Ft. Pierce.
Itzel was born in Rio Verde, San Luis Potosí, México. Her parents are Bartolo Mendoza Dorado. He was born in Arroyo Seco, Querétaro, México. Her mother Ma. Del Socorro Segura Loredo. She was born in Rio Verde, San Luis Potosí, México. She is now living with her parents in Ft. Pierce. Itzel attended Ft. Pierce Central High School, and this fall she will finish her associate’s degree at Indian River State College this summer before moving to Florida Atlantic University. she will be majoring in Psychology, but plan to also complete another major in Early Childhood education if possible.

Logan was born in Stuart, Florida. His parents are Justin Putnam and Melissa Putnam Feliciano. Logan’s father was born in Florida and mother was born in New York of Puerto Rican heritage. Logan attended Martin County High school in Stuart Florida and will be attending University of Central Florida where he will be pursuing a degree in Aerospace Engineering. Logan’s dream is to one day work for NASA.

Alicia was born in Wellington, Florida. Her parents are Eduardo and Maria Solis from Mexico. She is now living with them in Port St. Lucie. She attended Lincoln Park Academy, and this fall she will attend University of Florida. she will be majoring in Biology and planning to work in the medical field and help the Hispanic community.

Devin was born in Plantation, Florida. His parents are Davy L. Parham born in Las Vegas, Nevada of Mexican American heritage and Chalonda Parham born in Plantation, Florida. Devin attended Treasure Coast H.S High school in Port St Lucie, Florida and will be attending University of Central Florida where he will be pursuing a degree in Engineering.

The Spanish American Club, Inc. is proud to recognize one outstanding student selected to receive one of the six club’s 2022 scholarship awards. The recipient is Brett Freedman of Martin County.
Brett was born in Stuart, Florida. His parents are Jason Freedman and Tisha Llopiz Freedman. They were born in Columbus, Ohio and Atlanta, Georgia. His Grandfather was born in Havana, Cuba and came to the United States at just 15 years of age in November of 1961. Brett attended Martin County High School, Florida and he will be attending The University of Central Florida where he will be pursuing a degree in Computer Science.

Rebecca was born in Phoenix, Arizona. Her mother, Sandra O’Neill, moved to the United States from Carabobo, Puerto Cabello, Venezuela in 2000. Rebecca attended Clark Advanced Learning Center, Stuart, Florida, and she will be attending Indian River State College where she will be pursuing a degree in Business while studying Holistic Nutrition and the Performing Arts.

On January 23, 2000, the members of the Spanish American Club, Inc. (S.A.C.I.) presented plaques to the directors of the previous administration for their dedication and contributions to the club. The distinguished members in 1999 were: Yolanda Sánchez, Maite Peterson, Odette Gayoso, Josefina Gerena, and Olga González.
Recognitions are a display of gratitude, congratulations, and distinction. There is no recognition without behind it an extraordinary effort, an outstanding achievement, or a remarkable career. The newsletter “La Voz” is proud to acknowledge the work of an excellent group of ladies. Their vision, effort, and commitment have significantly contributed to the development of the club.
As a distinguishing feature, the following individuals stand out, particularly: Yolanda Sánchez, a native of Ponce, Puerto Rico, the first woman to assume the position of president of the SACI in its 8 years of existence, held the position of secretary in 1997 where she did an excellent job. Yolanda formed a board made up of women who also made history. The members of the SACI are proud that the qualities of our former president are recognized once again, this time by the board, which honors her with a plaque that includes a photo of the directors from 1999 for her “Dedication and Cooperation” to the club. Under your leadership, our institution has reached the highest status, being recognized as one of the best civic and social clubs in the area. One more to your account, Yolanda!
