Annual Mother’s Day with D.J. Sam Rivera at the “Park’s Edge Clubhouse”

Por Herman Santa

Many people were on their feet, and others woke up with tired legs from dancing so much on Saturday, May 8, at the clubhouse of Park’s Edge in Port St. Lucie. An elegant crowd of well-dressed people attended a dance where good taste and great company prevailed, making this event organized by the Board of Directors one filled with surprises, from the beautiful decorations prepared by the decor committee, the guest speakers, and even the trendiest rhythms of the moment.

Among the guests were: Lawyer Gary Sweet, who is running for judge for the “19th Circuit Court” in the upcoming elections, and Dr. Flor Ramos from the “Florida Guard” Association, who also addressed the Hispanic audience to invite them to join their organization to help the community in case of emergencies or disasters. We cannot forget the sponsors who donated to the activity. Bobby Rodríguez from “L&B Latin Production” gifted us two tickets to his next dance on June 5th, and the winner was Nidia Mier. The haircut donated by “Jose’s Hair Styling” was won by Emilia Melendez.

The other winners were: Ray Perez and Nidia Sanchez, who won a free entry to the Hawaiian party. Bobby Rodriguez won the bottle of wine, and Leticia Goff took home the 50/50 raffle. We must thank the executives of the newspaper “La Voz” and those who work at the station “La Gigante 1330 AM” for announcing the event; without them, we wouldn’t have achieved the success we had. We also want to thank “Boston Market,” especially Norma Coón, for providing ice for the party. Finally, we extend our gratitude to the merchants who allowed us to place flyers in their establishments.

But let’s get to the “D.J.” Sam Rivera’s music was impeccable; for over four hours, he played almost non-stop with precision, enthusiasm, and excellence. Thank you, Sam, for helping us and bringing a touch of the Latin atmosphere. To organize an event of this magnitude, where the goal is to have the best music, you must, of course, have a good Board of Directors and the support of the members who sold the tickets. I thank everyone for their hard work. For more than 4 hours, the club members drank, danced, and had fun all night.

The event was held on Saturday, January 31, on the island (also known as Hutchinson Island) to inaugurate the board meeting and to happily kick off the monthly meetings, better known as the “Get Together” of the club’s members.

The partners and guests began with a cocktail and then enjoyed dinner. Later, the partners had fun and danced to the live music of the “Shepherd & Green Duo.” A great start to the year 2004. Finally, thanks to Dana and Leticia Goff for helping to plan the meeting. The next “Get Together” is scheduled for Saturday, February 21, at a partner’s residence.

Monthly “Get Together” at the residence of Bobby and Lily Rodríguez in Port St Lucie

By Herman Santa

On Saturday, April 3, another successful monthly “Get Together” of the members of the “Spanish American Club, Inc.” was held. This time, the members’ meeting took place at the “Clubhouse” of the neighborhood where Bobby and Lilly Rodríguez live in the city of Port St. Lucie. The cheerful hosts, Bobby and Lilly, welcomed us with a hug and were happy because it was a great source of satisfaction and pride for them to have us for such a gathering. Bobby took care of the music and Lilly took care of the dinner. Everything started with a cocktail while we enjoyed the appetizers they had prepared, followed by the favorite buffet of gastronomic delights featuring roasted pork, stewed chicken, and even rice with pigeon peas, finishing off with dessert.

Annual Spring Dance with D.J. Mendoza Sound at the Spanish Lakes Clubhouse

By Herman Santa

On Saturday, April 24th, the members of the Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) hosted their monthly party.  With over 60 members and their guests in attendance, the group celebrated the Annual Spring Party.  This month’s hostess, Mary Figliola (Board Member) welcomed all the members and their guests.  The event to help raise funds for the scholarship was a great party.  The party started at 6:00 P.M. and continued until late at night as the group enjoyed a delicious buffet, birthday celebration, mingling, dancing, raffles and door prizes.

The members and their guests were entertained by Mendoza Sound- a popular D.J. that has been hired by the club for the monthly parties since last year.  Concluding the meal, the board collected items for our troops in the military and the scholarship committee raffled the door prizes, painting raffle, held the 50/50 raffle and the hat dance contest.  The winners were: Dorothy Mc Eing (Door Prize), Mary Byron (Door Prize), Nancy Rozon (Door Prize), Evie Cardona (Door Prize), Dorothy Mc Eing (Painting), Fred McEwan (50/50) and George Poda (Hat Dance Contest). Annual Winter Dance with D.J Herman Santa at the residence of Bobby RodríguezPark Edge Clubhouse

By Herman Santa

The “Get Together” served as a platform to bring partners together and start the new year with a spirit of brotherhood, solidarity, and respect that should accompany us throughout the year.

On Saturday, January 22, the members of the “Spanish American Club, Inc.” delighted their palates with fine Latin food and various desserts prepared by the members themselves. Guests and attendees enjoyed the entire evening at the “Club House,” where Bobby and Lilly Rodríguez’s aunt lives in the Park Edge neighborhood of Port St. Lucie.

This server brought the music repertoire, and with the club’s sound system, I got everyone dancing with my hot rhythm. It was a spectacular and unforgettable night. I thank Bobby and Lilly for the first “Get Together” of the year and for their initiative benefiting the club.
