Recognized member, Herman Santa

By Herman Santa

The newsletter “La Voz” recognized five outstanding members of the “Spanish American Club, Inc.” for the year 2000 for their efforts and performance, which they provide through their dedication, integrity, and rectitude, as well as the service, talent, and time they dedicated to the Club.

The award ceremony took place at the “Don Eduardo” restaurant in Jensen Beach, where the plaques were presented by Arnaldo Palenzuela, former President of the Organization. Among the distinguished members were Sarah Lee, former Secretary of the Club, and her mother Ileana Zequeira (former Vocal). Another selected member was Martha González, former Treasurer, who was unable to attend the Annual General Assembly of the members. The new President of the Club, Herman Santa, presented outgoing President Arnaldo Palenzuela with a plaque featuring a photograph of the board from the year 2000.

Arnaldo Palenzuela was born in Havana, Cuba. His commendable work ethic, sense of responsibility, and above all, his complete dedication to everything he does were significant factors in the selection of Naldo, or Pale as his friends call him, for the plaque at the Club. This prominent businessman has been regarded as an important person in the Club for the last few years. His contribution as former President, former Treasurer, and while serving as President last year, was a pivotal point in promoting and maintaining the Club to what it is today. !Honor to whom honor is due!

Willie González was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. The name Willie González is well-known in Martin and St. Lucie counties. His leadership as a former Vice President, tenacity, and honesty encompass some of the attributes of this hardworking and fighting man. Willie greatly excelled as Vice President twice. During those two years, he helped in several committees and contributed to the club’s growth. We do not say goodbye to Willie, but rather see you later because Willie promised to continue with the publication of the newsletter. !We also add another one to his account, as he deserves it!

Martha González was born in Bogotá, Colombia. The entrepreneurial spirit that defines Martha’s demeanor and personality led her to occupy the position of treasurer of the Club. Her exceptional merits as an auditor for Internal Revenue and her knowledge of accounting gave the members confidence to appoint her as treasurer, for which she deserves the plaque for the excellent work she did. !We also congratulate her !

Sarah Lee was born in Cuba. With a great personality, strong convictions, and experience in real estate, Sarah excelled in her secretarial duties. Monthly minutes always reached the partners without delay. Sarah contributed her leadership to help the Club move forward, and for that, she is recognized with a plaque which she deserves. ! Thank you, Sarah, for your contribution!

Ileana Zequira was born in Cuba. With her wisdom, personality, and love for humanity, Ileana is deserving of the Club’s plaque. She distinguished herself through her role as a Vocal member. Her help to the club was exceptional; your fellow club members admire and congratulate you for your contribution and your little grain of sand in advancing the goals of our Organization. Once again, Congratulations! Our special thanks to the members who participated in various committees and to all our members and families for their support. We also want to thank our collaborators, sponsors, and friends for their backing of the work carried out by the “Spanish American Club, Inc.”
