Annual Thanksgiving with D.J. José Ramírez at Tapas Latin Fusion Restaurant in Stuart
By Herman Santa
Paella, wine and Latin music, that’s what the members of the Spanish American Club, Inc. and their guests enjoyed last Saturday, November 19, to kick off the Thanksgiving holiday at Tapas Latin Fusion in Stuart. We began the evening with cocktails during the “Happy Hour” and then enjoyed paellas (Paella de mariscos (Shrimp/Squid/Mussels/Scallops.) David Rodriguez, chef and owner of the restaurant prepared 6 “Paelleras” for us which included a bottle of wine for two, salad and dessert.
During the dinner, Hungarian guitarist Frankie Holiday entertained us with his beautiful flamenco melodies. Then D.J. Joe V. Shari Tessier took over with music for dancing. The Highlight of the night was José Ramirez who sang a few ballads and Roberta Linares who danced flamenco before every one came to the dance floor.

Mother’s 1996
Annual Mother’s Day with D.J. “Johnny’s Music” at Jensen Beach Women’s Club
By Herman Santa
The “Spanish American Club, Inc.” celebrated Mother’s Day on Saturday, May 13, at the Jensen Beach Women’s Club.
The dance was enlivened by Johnny Saltos “Johnny’s Music.” Johnny Saltos had us dancing from early on with his modern rhythms. The psychedelic lights, smoke, and his way of engaging the audience made us feel like we were in a nightclub. As usual, we formed a circle, did the Bridge, and the calypso.
The occasion was used to celebrate the birthdays in May of the members Isa Bryson, Reneé Arnao, and Odette Gayoso. In the end, Johnny dedicated songs to the mothers. I want to thank everyone who collaborated and supported us in this activity, especially the organizer, César Bohórquez, the Board of Directors, and the club members who contributed.

Luau 2001
Luau with D.J. “El Coqui” at Jensen Beach Women’s Club

As every year, the Spanish American Club, Inc. celebrated the Hawaiian fiesta on Saturday, August 7, and no one was left out. The spacious ballroom of the Jensen Beach Women’s Club was packed. People who never see each other took the opportunity to dance and relieve their stress.
We saw many new faces and cheerful people, and almost everyone sported Hawaiian shirts and enjoyed dancing to the music of the Coqui. Many enjoyed the snacks prepared by Gladys and Juan Piñeiro, as they had alcapurrias, empanadas, and tostones at reasonable prices.
