Spanish American Club members celebrated Las Vegas Trip

Members and friends of the Spanish American Club, Inc. went on a five-day Las Vegas trip.  The trip was organized by our president Carlos Bonet. The trip started at 8 a.m. from Port St. Lucie Friday, May 1 and returned Sunday, Saturday, May 7. Every one enjoyed the trip, the casinos, buffet and the music.

Annual picnic at Jensen Beach Park

Members with their relatives and friends of The Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) enjoyed a day at the beach, bar-b-cue, music, games and birthday celebration.  The event was held at Jensen Beach Park on Hutchinson Island on Saturday, April 30. While some enjoyed the beach, others played volleyball and dominoes. After the cook out, the members and their guests celebrated birthdays of Carlos Bonet, Millie Asencio, and Herman Santa.

Thanks to the SACI board of directors, the picnic committee and other volunteers that made the picnic a big success.

Billiard 2016 (Tournament)

Spanish American Club hosts Billiard Tournament 2016

The Spanish American Club, Inc. Billiard Tournament was hosted Saturday, April 9, at Shooters Billiards in Jensen Beach.  Club member Ivan Guanill coordinated the event. The event produced enthusiastic participation by club members. The billiard tournament features a ration of 16 players in a round single’s play. The entry fee was $5 per player. The players that lost two games were declared out of the competition.

Winners: Luis Carrillo (6-1), 2nd Place, Ivan Guanill (7-1) and 3rd Place; Roberto Belardo (4-2). Other players that participated were: Tony Colón Herman Santa, Joe Castro, Al Feliciano, Tony Canales, Rubén Alemán, Luis Arroyo, José Echevarria, Evie Cardona, Carlos Bonet, Felix Asencio, John Borras and Tony Cruz. Other players that were absent were Javier Crespo, Ray Guadalupe, Angel Pellot, Orlando Tirado and José Santiago.  Thanks to Ivan Guanill and his committee and to all participants who made this annual event a big success.

The Spanish American Club, Inc. golfers sponsored Veterans Golf Tournament

On Saturday, April 2, some members of The Spanish American Club, Inc. participated in the Golf Tournament of the United Veterans of Saint Lucie County, Inc. at Fairwinds Golf Course in Ft. Pierce.  Among the participants representing the club were Ed Shuebert, Ray Guadalupe, Orlando Tirado, Luis Arroyo, Ruben Aleman, Herman Santa, Carlos Bonet, Eric Frank, Al Peña, Pamela Peña, Robert Marrero and Laura Marrero.  Thanks to all participants from the club who went above and beyond for a good cause.

Mardi Gras 2016

Annual Mardi Gras with D.J. José Ramírez at “DAV”

The Annual Mardi Gras Party hosted by The Spanish American Club, Inc. was celebrated on Saturday, March. 26 at the Disabled American Veterans Club in Port St. Lucie.  Members and their guests enjoyed an evening of costumes, snacks, dancing, and of course, the beads. Our president Carlos Bonet and public relations director, Ray Guadalupe updated the members about the next events and thanked every one of them for their continued support.

Member’s birthday celebration was enjoyed by all. After the birthday celebration and raffle drawings, everyone enjoyed the music of our D.J. José Ramírez. Big thanks go to the members and their guests who bought tickets for the scholarship raffle.  And finally, many thanks to the set up committee and the decoration committee who did a great job.

Next event of the club has been scheduled for Saturday, April 27 to celebrate our Annual Picnic.  The Spanish American Club, Inc. is a non-profit organization. Its mission is to unite Hispanics throughout the Treasure Coast, in order to preserve our Hispanic Heritage.

The Spanish American Club, Inc. golfers sponsored Holy Family Golf Tournament

On Saturday March 19th, some members of The Spanish American Club,Inc. participated in the Golf Tournament of the Holy Family at Gator Trace Golf & Country Club in Ft. Pierce.  Ray Guadalupe won the “Closest to the Pin on hole # 17 Par 3.  Among the participants representing the club were Ed Shuebert, Ray Guadalupe, Orlando Tirado, Ruben Aleman, Herman Santa, Carlos Bonet, Gus Migliore, Luis Rosa and Neftali Rivera.  Thanks to all participants from the club who went above and beyond for a good cause.

Let’s Play Golf!

Some members of The Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) and their friends like to play golf.  The golfers play 18 or 9 holes on Wednesdays.  They play from January trough December (Winter after 12 P.M. and Summer after 9 A.M.)  at The Saints in Port St. St. Lucie.  Some of the players are: Herman Santa, Luis Rosa, Nick Arnell, Ralph Harrison, Bernie Jethroe, Roberto Belardo, Rubén Sánchez, Gil Hulting, Tony Colón, Neftalí Rivera, Jorge Pérez, Frenchy Perez, Fernando Mejía, Rubén Alemán, Pete Marrero, Gus Migliore, Al Peña, Frank Tenem, Luie Arroyo, Jim Lao, Carlos Bonet, Ray Guadalupe, Eric Frank, Orlando Tirado, Robert Osborne, Ed Faivre, Alfredo Medina and Mike Van Dooren.
 
They are participating on the try outs since the group was formed over 20 years ago.    Some play “Closest to the Pin” on all Par Threes and others play the point system (Birdie 3 points, Par 2 points and a Boggie, 1 point).  You don’t have to be a member of the Spanish American Club, Inc. to join the group.  To find out more information about them, please contact Herman Santa at: hermansanta@comcast.net.  Come and join us, we are fun group.

Los socios y amigos del “Spanish American Club, Inc.”(SACI) continuan jugando golf en el campo de golf de “The Saint” en Port St. Lucie.  Todos los miercoles después de las 12 de la tarde (9 de la mañana en verano). Entre los jugadores activos y substitutos están; Herman Santa, Luis Rosa, Nick Arnell, Ralph Harrison, Bernie Jethroe, Roberto Belardo, Rubén Sánchez, Gil Hulting, Tony Colón, Neftalí Rivera, Jorge Pérez, Frenchy Perez, Fernando Mejía, Rubén Alemán, Pete Marrero, Gus Migliore, Al Peña, Frank Tenem, Luie Arroyo, Jim Lao, Carlos Bonet, Ray Guadalupe, Eric Frank, Orlando Tirado, Robert Osborne, Ed Faivre, Alfredo Medina and Mike Van Dooren.
 
Ellos están participando en los “Try Outs” desde que se formó el grupo hace más de 20 años.  Algunos apuestan en los hoyos de “Par 3” y otros en el total de puntos (Birdie 2 puntos, Par 2 puntos y Boggie, 1 punto).  La esperanza del grupo es unir a los golfistas hispanos y hacer un torneo de golf al final de la temporada para recaudar fondos para la beca que ofrece el club a estudiantes hispanos de bajos ingresos.   Las personas que estén interesadas en unirse al grupo pueden contactar a Herman Santa: hermansanta@comcast.net.  !Ha Jugar golf se ha dicho!

Scholarship Award 2010

Scholarship Award 2010

On Saturday March 27th, Herman Santa, Nancy Rozon and Mary Figliola attended the Scholarship Presentation Ceremony at the Martin County High School. They presented a $500 scholarship to Elba Valdés. The Spanish American club, Inc. awarded $500 scholarship to Elba.  Elba was born in Stuart of Mexican descendant and is attending Martin County High School with a 3.3 GPA. She plans to study Physical Therapy at Indian River State College.

Annual Valentine Dance with D. J. José Ramírez at the DAV

On Feb. 27, The Spanish American Club, Inc. “SACI” celebrates Valentine at the Disabled American Veterans “DAV” hall in Port St. Lucie.  The event started at 7:00 P.M. with guest speakers John Romano  CEO, and Pat Austin, Vice chair of New Horizons of The Treasure Coast and Okeechobee. The purpose of their presentation was to help the Hispanic population of the Treasure Coast learn about services available to them and their family members in the area of mental health and substance abuse.

During a break, an appreciation recognition was presented to Nancy Rozon for her generous support to the club. After the presentation to Nancy, D. J. José Ramírez played a birthday song to celebrate the February birthdays. There were door prizes and 50/50 raffles to top off the event. 50/50 winners were: Elizabeth Bonet and José Mejia. Flower arrangement winner was Hector Gil. Door prize winners were Nora Domenech, Karen Diamond, Cecilia Pulido, Millie Asencio and Xiomara Guanill.

SACI, a nonprofit membership organization from Martin and St. Lucie counties. SACI is the oldest social, civic, benevolence and sport organization on the Treasure Coast. The mission of the club is to promote friendship and solidarity among its members, neighbors and other nonprofit institutions of the Treasure Coast through cultural, social and civic activities and to promote the knowledge of the Spanish speaking countries, their geography, history, art and folklore. 

Members and their guests enjoyed an evening of good camaraderie, snacks and of course, dancing with the rhythm of D.J. José Ramírez’s sound. Many thanks to the board for planning and those members that helped with the decoration and the set ups.
