Anniversary 2000
8th Anniversary of SACI com music at the “Habana Biltmore” restaurant in the city of Stuart
By Herman Santa
The Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) celebrated its 8th anniversary this summer. To commemorate the anniversary, members held a dinner at the “Habana Biltmore” restaurant in the city of Stuart.
President Mr. Arnaldo Palenzuela welcomed the partners and guests. Alongside Arnaldo were the other board members who helped plan the dinner. They are: Willie González; Vice President, Martha Gonzáles; Treasurer, Mrs. Lee; Secretary, and Iliana Zequeira; Board Member.
The idea was born eight years ago when a group of Hispanics took on the task of establishing an organization to foster closeness and friendship among Hispanics living on the “Treasure Coast,” particularly between Puerto Ricans and Cubans, without excluding people of any nationality. Under this principle, on June 24, 1992, the day the letter with the “Articles of Incorporation” was received, the club was established.
A month earlier, a “Constituent Assembly” was organized and held at the “Educare Center” school of Tom and Kathy González in the city of Port St. Lucie. On the same day, the first Board of Directors was established, whose responsibility was to maintain and nurture the customs and traditions of Hispanics living in the “Treasure Coast.” Today, that circle, which was initially formed by a membership of 9 families, now counts a large group of members who remain united by the same common purpose.

3rd Anniversary with D.J. “Midnight Express” and folkloric groups at the Community Center of Port St. Lucie
By Herman Santa
The “Spanish American Club, Inc.” celebrated its 3rd Anniversary with a Multicultural Show on Saturday, July 22, at the Community Center halls of Port St. Lucie.
The club is among the non-profit civic organizations in the “Treasure Coast” that have taken the initiative to preserve the folklore, art, customs, language, and cultures of our Spanish-speaking countries. This was the second time we had participation from four countries that showcased their folklore. This multicultural event was scheduled to celebrate the club’s 3rd anniversary, as well as the independences of the United States, Colombia, and Peru.
Among the countries that participated with folkloric groups were Colombia, Peru, Guatemala, and the USA. After the multicultural event, Latin music was danced to with Disc Jockey Manny González and his “Midnight Express” from Port St. Lucie. The Board of Directors of the “Spanish American Club, Inc.” and its partners thank the individuals and organizations that helped us celebrate our 2nd multicultural showcase for their support and participation. The proceeds from this activity will go to the annual college scholarship fund for a Hispanic student from the area.
